Intro

Penthouse is one of the more iconic company names in the porn biz. A company like this has such a long history and name recognition that surfers will have expectations about what to expect even before they look at the site. In other words just by being Penthouse this site has a high standard to meet in order to satisfy expectations. What this site has to offer is a large downloadable collection of both video scene and photo galleries that range from glamour solo model shoots to hardcore sex of all kinds. Memberships are straightforward with monthly or yearly recurring options.

The Pros

Large Penthouse Photo & Video Archive, Constant Updates.

Content includes big collections of both photo galleries and videos. Each section has thousands of content items and sexy pro models and pornstars that you'd expect from Penthouse. The videos are weighted towards hardcore action of all kinds and while he photos hardcore too you can find lots of solo glamour shoots of course. All scenes are date-stamped and their update pace is impressive with one new photo gallery and a few video scenes each day.

Dedicated 'Pets' Section, From Present Back to 1973.

Penthouse is best known for its Pets magazine photo spreads so I'm glad they included a dedicated section for those here. There is a 'Pets Archive' showing each by year from present back to '73 and you can view/download the galleries plus newer models that did videos as well also have those available.

HD Level Videos & Photo Set Zips, Solid Download Options.

Download and viewing options are excellent with full-scene WMV and MP4 in HD quality 1280x720 along with standard and mobile options as well. The in-browser Flash streaming is excellent with near instant buffering and the ability to jump around. There are a lot of 3D movies here too with a couple different 3D viewing options for those with and without the glasses. Photo galleries have images that reach up to 4000x2667 and there are multiple quality levels for both online viewing and zip files.

Sharp Design, Model Index, Pets Section, Niche Categories.

The member's area design is professional looking, well organized, and fitting a company like Penthouse. There is a model index, separate photo/video sections that can be niche-filtered, and the Pet Archive. It's very easy right away to get a handle on the full scope of the collection and where things are at.

Other Good Stuff:

Members can post feedback/comments on the video scenes. There is a nice amount of activity there from users.
Useful data are listed on the videos including running time, stars, niche categories, date published, member rating, and video file sizes.

The Cons

Quality Can Vary, Big Video File Sizes, & Hit-and-Miss Model Info.

These are a few items about the infrastructure that I notice and decided to bring together in to one bullet point. The content quality can vary with some of their content being older or even vintage so the photo/video size and clarity isn't always at the higher levels. Some of the videos in HD can be massive at 2-4GB or more so download waiting can be lengthy. Finally, I expected more consistent model information in the index. The stars sometimes have some basic physical stat info but other times there is nothing. This background info on the performers should be more in-depth and I found it to be one of the design's main weaknesses.

Minor Negatives:

When you open a video scene page the in-browser Flash always begins playing. This can get a little annoying if you're just looking for the download links.
There are 'Live Chat' Penthouse scenes as part of the video collection but I couldn't locate a schedule for that stuff. A separate navigation header 'Model Chat' link is a pay-per-view service.
There are a few member's area ads and upsells for things like other paysites, live cams, and dating.

The other

Extra content items include archives of Penthouse Letters and Sex Ed columns like Carnal Knowledge. Membership also includes access to Variations and Penthouse Forum.

Bottom Line

Penthouse has an impressive collectoin of hardcore & softcore videos, photos, & Penthouse Pets.

Penthouse is doing a very nice job delivering a website that is worthy of the company name. They have lots of content including nice balance in terms of photos/videos and hardcore/softcore and then they have excellent content download options including items like HD and 3D. It's also good that they've taken the time of set-up a Pets section which brings in a bit of vintage content as well. While there are a few items they could improve on like the model bios and live show info this is still one of those sites where the pros significantly outweigh the cons. Based on their update history it%u2019s safe to assume they'll continue rolling out new content which will only add to the already big archive.
