Intro

X Movies is a DVD download site with a big ol' collection of hardcore titles in all different popular and specialty niche categories. Generally speaking it has things presented in a way that's consistent with other DVD download sites which his good since it makes things straightforward and simple. The guest tour is very much an open book layout in that visitors can browse the full collection and see exactly what they have to offer before signing up. Basically what you see is what you get.

The Pros

Big Collection of Hardcore DVD Content, Lots of Studios/Niches.

X Movies has hardcore full DVD movies from a bunch of different production companies. They have a ton of titles in the mix and the cover hardcore action of all types. With the different studios comes different styles of porn from more pornstar studio stuff ranging to more raw unpolished type content. It's a solid archive with quantity being its biggest strength.

Consistent Download Options, WMV, MP4 & Flash Formats.

Viewing and download options are consistent for the movies throughout the collection. Full-scene WMV and MP4 downloads are available along with a portable level MP4. They have in-browser Flash streaming to round out the choices. Quality is decent at 720x480 2400k on the WMV which is the highest format level.

Steady Daily Updates, All Movies are Date-Stamped.

With all the movies being date-stamped it's pretty easy to know when they are adding new content. They have settled in now to one new DVD per day. In the past I think they were going at a faster clip however one a day still is on par for this type of site.

Other Good Stuff:

Pretty good details are posted on the movies including front/back box covers, running time, date added, and hyperlinked studio, series, pornstar, and niche category info.
Movies are broken down by niche category plus there are niche categories and additional filters and an advanced search.

The Cons

Expensive Price, Limited Trial, Cross-Sells & Ads.

These are a few issues I noted all that revolve around the pricing structure. The $39.95/mo rate puts this near the high end of paysite prices and there are lots of less expensive DVD sites out there. The trial is limited access and then there are cross-sells on the join page and a couple banner ads in the member's area.

Could Use Higher Video Quality Level, Additional Options.

While the movie options are consistent and have the basics covered they aren't pushing any limits in terms of quality and some high-res levels would be welcome. They also tend to use the different formats for the different quality levels without multiple choices for each and every format. I also ran into some of the movies where the file size info was blank so you might run into some incomplete details like that.

Minor Negatives:

Based on the numbers in the niche categories there are some relatviely small sections that surprised me like Amateur, Mature, and Toys.
There isn't a fully developed model index with preview pictures of the pornstars. They just have the text lists. Also the one bit of data they don't have that I wanted to see was the release year of the movies since it seems they have newer and older content in the mix.

The other

Content is non-exclusive DVDs from many different studios.

Bottom Line

A large DVD site with straightforward download options with hardcore titles from a lot of different studios.

X Movies is pretty solid with its strengths being the amount of movies, varied niches, and titles from many production companies. While they could ratchet up the video quality and perhaps add more options they do have the fundamentals covered. The price is t higher than many other DVD sites in this category so that does stand out as something to consider.
