Totally Teen is up for review today, and honestly, the site is about as standard/generic as the name is. Not to bash them right from the get go, but it's basically a large collection of teen content (seemingly non-exclusive) in both hardcore and softcore options. While I really like the tour and the previews they give, most of the scenes aren't quite that crisp and colorful unfortunately. They do have a solid collection of high-definition movies at least, so those look better than the generic stuff they offer, but that only makes up about 25% of the videos here. Overall, it's a large site, but the content doesn't seem terribly exciting. The $35 monthly price tag doesn't help either, which is more than most sites we look at.
The Pros
Lots to see!
The benefits of sites like this are usually the size and update schedule, and that's definitely the case here. We put them at over 700 videos and over 360,000 photos currently, and it's growing daily here. That's a lot to get through, though I don't know if you want to see all of it.
HD videos look decent.
The high-definition video option here looks a lot better than their standard-definition material. While they're probably not the best HD videos I've seen before, they definitely look clearer and sharper than the other 3/4 of the videos.
Daily updates.
Every day, they add several new updates to the site. It's usually a few photo galleries, but they do add videos a couple times a week as well. No doubt, the crazy update schedule is how they got their collection to be so large.
Other Good Stuff:
I like the streaming video and options they have here. The quality is good, and it gets the job done well.
The Cons
Doesn't seem to be exclusive.
They don't really mention much either way, but if I had to guess, I'd say most of the content is non-exclusive here. For sure, most all of the photo galleries, and probably most of the videos too. Since they don't label anything as exclusive, I assume the worst I guess. Call my cynical.
Quality isn't the best at times.
Between the older photos that just look older (poor lighting, or too much lighting, or too small, or too grainy, etc.) and the majority of videos that are average at best, the quality isn't top dog here by a long shot. The HD collection helps, but I'd love for it to play a bigger role.
Navigation could be better.
They have a few different sections to check out, but once you're in them, the navigation is a free for all. They just list everything all together, and they don't offer any options. The best you can do it a small search box which doesn't work that well. Plus, some of the menu links aren't even to content of theirs, adding to the confusion.
Minor Negatives:
Some of the menu links aren't even to actual content, and instead go to 3rd-party links. For instance, between "Teen HD" and "Hi-Def Movies," which is the actual content? It makes more sense to me now, but it's overly confusing.
Along with the lackluster navigation is a pretty plain design that's mostly based around text.
$35 a month is a lot to spend on any site out there, so you better be really good at what you do. I would have preferred a little more for my money here.
Bottom Line
There's lots to see and lots of updates, but the site wasn't that great for me.
As I mentioned, for $35 a month, I really expect a lot out of a site, and I don't quite feel that Totally Teen delivered. They have a lot to see, and they update daily, but that's about where the fun ends. The content is very generic here, with lots of non-exclusive material, and just non-exciting material at times. The HD video section is the bright light here, and I hope that one continues to grow. Unfortunately, it only makes up about a quarter of their video content, and there's no such equivalent section in the photos. There are no real options for navigation, and the site is quite plain. Without anything really standing out as great, it's a tough sell, though you do get a lot to see at least.
