Rookie Guys is up for review today, and this is a gay site that supposedly focuses on first-timers hooking up with other guys in hardcore action. It's hard to get a sense if this is really their first time with a dude (I doubt it), but oh well, it gives them a little theme to follow. The actual scenes are pretty standard hardcore action, with two or more guys hooking up. They shoot all their own content, but can sometimes sell some of it off as plugin material. $30 a month gets you in the door, plus full access to the Male Spectrum Pass group of sites, which is actually a discount for our users off the usual $40 price tag.
The Pros
Original gay content.
The name of the game here is definitely the content itself. They don't have a ton to see, the idea isn't necessarily all that original, and the collection isn't huge. However, they do shoot all their own porn, and the scenes are fun enough if you ask me.
Network access included.
Since the updates are rather slow here, the network access could come in handy. There are about nine other sites included with your membership total, and they're all in the gay niche obviously, so hopefully they are all worth a look for you.
Video quality is pretty good.
They don't quite hit the high definition mark in terms of what they put online, but I would guess that they shoot everything in HD, and just downsize it a little to save on bandwidth. The videos all look very nice overall.
The Cons
Needs some growth.
With just over 50 scenes currently, they are definitely in need of some more content. While it's not the smallest site I've come across, there really isn't a ton to see here yet, and I'd call this a nice minimum base to build from going forward.
Updates are pretty slow.
They've only been adding a new scene every month or so lately, which is way too slow for me. I usually look for weekly updates at minimum, and the whole monthly thing is pretty bad, especially considering the membership fee here.
Minor Negatives:
The content isn't 100% exclusive here. They sell a lot of their content off as plugin or bonus content to other paysites. If you check out that type of material, beware that you may have seen this before.
As for video downloads, there's only a single WMV option unfortunately. I'd love to see another video type added, plus maybe some other options (clips, different quality levels).
Their pictures are on the small side, and don't look nearly as good as their videos do.
Downloads came in pretty slow for me, varying from 1/6th of my max speed to 1/12th or so. It'd help if they would allow download managers to do their thing.
A lot of the scenes are not in English here, so you can't really understand what they're saying. They don't even provide subtitles or anything.
Bottom Line
Not bad overall with good scenes and nice quality, but nothing too amazing, either.
Rookie Guys wasn't bad overall. The scenes are fine enough, the quality is good, and the network access helps. However, they don't really have a ton to see, the updates are very slow, and there aren't many features or options to get excited about here. There's just no one area where they really excel, so it's hard to get real excited for them unfortunately. It's a nice part of the network, but without a lot more content, more updates, full HD quality, and more options, it'll just remain a pretty standard site overall that most probably won't remember for terribly long. At least you can have a little fun while you're here I guess!
