Intro

Retro Raw is a vintage porn site with movies from the golden age of porn in the 70's and 80's. Collections of classics like this are always interesting to take a look at since porn from back in the day definitely has an extra entertainment value beyond just the actual sex. Retro Raw's guest tour gives surfers a quick overview of the type of content available. To sum up, it's a straightforward collection of downloadable full length movies.

The Pros

All Full-Length Classic/Vintage Porn Movies from the 70's & 80's.

What's best about Retro Raw's collection is that they forego pictures and zero in on providing just movie content. What they have are full-length movies all of which do indeed fit in the classic genre. Besides being classics the movie feature other niches throughout too like big boobs, interracial, anal, mature, young adults, and more.

Due to the classic theme here video quality was something I expected to give a bit on and like I expected the quality is pretty average. The formatting is pretty simple though with each movie broken into WMV scene-length files that are downloadable. The options aren't anything special but they are straightforward.

Front and back images of box covers are shown for each movie.

The Cons

Overall the site speed is a bit of a drag. This applies to the page loading but is more of an issue for downloading the movies. The pace here is around 300KB/sec on my high speed connection which is definitely less than I get on most paysites.

Based on the concept it would help to have some details on the movies beyond just the box covers. There is no star, year, or studio info posted. The only thing they add is a short written description which isn't all that helpful.

Basic Member's Area Design, No Content Categorization.

The main navigation method is a chronological listing of the movies. There is also a page of just the box covers plus a separate text-only alphabetical list of the movies. No niche breakdown or categorization by studio, year, or performer is provided. This point goes hand-in-hand with the lack of details for the movies.

Minor Negatives:

Update pace is pretty slow.
The downloadable movie files do not have any file size information posted.

Bottom Line

Interesting classic porn movies from the 70's & 80's but the site infrastructure could be improved.

I think Retro Raw has the right idea by going just with full length classic porn movies. That makes for an entertaining collection of content for fans of that genre. They come up short however in execution. Little things chip away at the site's value like the slow update pace and download speeds. This type of content calls out for information about the performers and movie but they don't provide that. So all-in-all the content is a plus while the site set-up has some clear negatives.
