Intro

Maniac Pass is an AVS style network and this set-up was sort of the precursor to the now more common video/reality networks. Maniac has in its network a ton of individual niche sites each with a small number of video scenes and/or picture content but the membership is for the entire network. The collection can be navigated by individual site or as one large collection with niche sections, DVDs, search, and model index. Essentially it's a video download site that has AVS design roots that are still maintained but they have put together macro browse tools so you can access the entire archive as if it were one site.

Pros

Large Collection of Hardcore/Fetish DVD Content.

The videos/DVDs are the main focus of this AVS style archive. Many scenes also have accompanying photo galleries but the videos are the content centerpiece. It's a general collection hitting on all sorts of niches and fetishes. The total count comes in around sixteen hundred or so DVDs which totals around seven thousand individual scenes.

Full-Video Downloads & Flash Streaming, Gallery Zips.

The format/options for videos do include both full-scene downloads usually in both WMV and MP4 although some older videos have just one of those. A downloadable iPhone mobile file is another option and then there is also in-browser Flash streaming. The photos have online images and zip files for saving the sets.

The design has been revamped and there are macro-browse tools for DVDs, niches, and a pornstar index. It's still possible to browse by individual site and even switch over to their old design layout.

Cons

Lots of Fetish Content Sites, Less Amounts of Popular Niches.

Looking at the list of sites and DVDs content like tranny, mature, BDSM, femdom, and anal are among the largest sections. For instance there are twice as many tranny videos as BJ scenes. I believe this stems from the AVS setup where the individual sites are put out in those fetishes that are best able to attract potential members. The balance here isn't what we're used to seeing from a movie download type site and the collection is more heavily weighted more towards those kinky/fetish categories.

Non-Exclusive Content, Mix of DVDs from Various Studios.

The content is a mix of content from a lot of different production companies. The list of studios is actually quite long however I found that a lot of the studios only have a handful of titles available. It's very much hit-and-miss and the content ranges from some newer stuff along with dated looking scenes/movies.

Tour Mentions HD but There are No HD Downloads.

The guest tour has a 1080p HD icon at the top left and while there are some high quality Flash streaming labelled as HD the WMV and MP4 downloads don't reach HD levels. Even the movies tagged with the HD icon have downloads around 720x404 2400k. For older videos the quality can be quite low in the range of around 350x240 1000k.

Downloads were slow. Downloading can obviously vary from user-to-user but I note that our previous TBP reviewer found the same thing and so did users who posted in the Maniac Pass forum. It seems to be a characteristic of the site.

There are a number of member's area ads and upsells. The monthly price is also pretty high and for some reason they have a different monthly price on their secondary billing processor.

Bottom Line

A sizable downloadable video archive although it has a lot of fetish sites/content due to the AVS style set-up.

Maniac Pass does have a large collection of DVDs/videos available for download and quite a lot of photo content to go along with that. The AVS background of the site means their included 'sites' skew towards a lot of fetishes like BDSM, tranny, uniform, etc so there is a lot of that type of content in the mix. Video quality on the downloads and update pace aren't real strengths here and they're not up to the levels you'll find at the top movie/DVD download sites.
