Intro

Gay Sex Resort is up for review today, and besides offering hardcore gay content, they tend to lean towards tropical locations, poolside shoots, and guys that could be pool boys. It's a bit of an older site, but offers all of the content in high definition (technically yes, but they don't look that great overall). It's part of a small group of similar gay sites, though the network doesn't have an official name or anything. You can join for $30 a month, which I guess seems about right for what they're offering.

The Pros

Exclusive gay content.

The main reason to check this site out is the content itself of course. It looks like they shoot all their own material, and the niche content is pretty good. They somehow find guys that look like they could clean pools in the tropics, and of course hook them up with other similar guys for some fun hardcore action.

A few network sites included.

It's not a huge network, but there are a few extra sites included with your membership. All are in the gay niche as well, so they're all relevant. I can't tell you how annoying it must be to be offered straight scenes as bonus access for a gay site.

Other Good Stuff:

The video options are decent enough here with a WMV download, Quicktime download, and a couple streaming options as well.

The Cons

Somehow, quality could be better.

Even though they offer all of their videos in "high definition," they just don't look that great for some reason. They hit the 1280x720 mark just fine, but then they way over-compress the videos so they don't look that great. There's lots of pixelation and artifacts to be seen unfortunately. I guess that's what you get from videos that are a few years old.

Scenes broken into too many parts.

The scenes here are broken into three parts on average, which doesn't matter so far as updates go (since there are none), but it creates a few problems. First, it makes downloads and entire scenes that much more difficult to figure out. Second, it makes their site seem bigger than it really is unfortunately.

No updates since 2007-2008.

The last updates were back a few years ago, and nothing has been added since then. I can't imagine they'll have a change of heart and open this thing up anytime soon, so don't come here expecting to see any new content going forward.

Minor Negatives:

The navigation works here, but it's awfully simple. I'd love to see a few more features and options to round things out, such as some categories, or an advanced search.
There are no zip files available here for the photo galleries, which may be annoying for some.

Bottom Line

Even with the HD scenes, this one feels a little older overall.

I commend Gay Sex Resort for being forward-thinking enough to have 100% of their videos offered in HD on a site that hasn't really added content in 2.5 years or so. However, those videos don't look all that great with pretty severe compression seen. Plus, the lack of updates means the site isn't very large, and you don't have much of an incentive to stick around much longer after a month or so. The site otherwise is fine enough (pretty average), but the quality and lack of growth really hurt. I'd love to see updates pick back up, and some better quality put into place, but I doubt either will happen. It's not bad for a one-off join to check it out, but make sure you like what you see in the tour first, as that's all they really have to offer.
