Intro

Adult Rental is a pay-per-minute DVD site with a huge archive of movies available for streaming VOD or 3-day rental for $5.95. This is one of those sites that is totally straightforward in terms of how the guest tour is organized and the info on how it works and the pricing structure. The guest side of things is an open-book layout in that visitors can browse the site exactly as members see it. Basically before you sign up you'll be able to navigate around and see what exactly they have to offer. There is a lot to see so it's helpful that they just lay it all out there and let the content do the talking rather than some glossy tour.

The Pros

Enormous DVD Archive, Tons of Studios, Stars, & Niches.

Quantity is the biggest strength of Adult Rental as they have over thirty two thousand DVDs. As you can imagine the number of pornstars is also gigantic and they have most of the studios in there as well. Clearly they have all the popular niches covered with tons of titles and then I also like that they have the smaller niches too like Indian, Parody, Ass to Mouth, Behind-the-Scenes, Pregnant, Rimming, etc. The bottom line is there is just a ton to see here and the selection is a major selling point.

Solid Design & Navigation Tools, Several Helpful Features.

With so much content the navigation features are important. Adult Rental does well and I found it easy to access the movies and locate different items I went looking for. There is a keyword search, niche categories, studio list, and a text model index. They have new releases and popular items linked to from the home page. When looking at individual movie pages they provide related content and link to star and studio names making it easier to jump to similar movies. They've done a good job making things accessible for such a large site.

Smooth Flash/WMV Streaming, Clear Account Balance Info.

Video deliver for this VOD content is through in-browser streaming. It appears that around half the movies have Flash and then the older items have WMV. Both function well with fairly quick buffering and loading. You can start from the beginning of the movie or they have a clip segment breakdown. Either way it's always possible to jump to any part of a movie at any time with a few seconds of buffering for both formats. At the top of the page they clearly show how many minute you have in your account and constantly stays updated.

Other Good Stuff:

Nice movie details are provided including hyperlinked niches, studio, stars, and related movies. They also show the length, production year, director, and have a written description.
The 3-day rental feature is a nice secondary option in addition to the standard pay-per-minute. Also, these guys have set up a special discount of 30 minutes free for TBP users.

The Cons

Average Video Quality, Mix of Flash & WMV Streaming Formats.

Video quality is only average. They actually do have multiple quality levels of high-def, high, medium, and dial-up but the high-def isn't actually at HD levels. Overall the specs are okay but nothing to write home about. There is inconsistency in that some moves are in Flash while others are in WMV so it is hit and miss in that regard. Of course as a VOD/rental site downloading isn't really in play here beyond a few with iPod files.

No Pictures of the Pornstars in the Model Index.

This is the one part of the navigation that I though felt a bit incomplete and wasn%u2019t as useful as it could be. No doubt users will be familiar with pornstars by name however the fact that they only have text names without preview pictures means you can't pick up on familiar faces and it makes it harder to find new girls that catch your eye by browsing the index. Many of the individual girl pages themselves don't even have pictures and bio info is sketchy.

Minor Negatives:

Update details are lacking. No doubt they add DVDs regularly and they do have a New Releases section however they don't post specific dates nor are individual movies in the archive date-stamped showing when they were added to the site.
It seems they have added iPod downloads on a small fraction of the movies however I had a hard time finding those or any more details beyond the promo about that on the main page.

The other

The VOD pay-per-minute pricing has seven different minute packages available with lower per-minute rates with the more you buy. The $5.95 3-day rentals are charged separately as individual transactions.

Bottom Line

A huge archive of DVD movies available for VOD or 3-day rentals.

Adult Rental is a nice quality site for surfers who are okay with a pay-per-minute or rental pricing structure. Considering they are limited to streaming movies they have done well with the functionality of the Flash and WMV however there's room for a bump in quality. Sheer quantity is the site's biggest asset as this is one of the bigger paysites out there.
