100s of Vintage Porn Movies
Browsing Historic Erotica is like visiting a museum of adult erotica from the past century. There's content that dates back to the early 1950s where you'll find rare photoshoots with Betty Page and pre-Hollywood Marilyn Monroe. You'll also find original stag films from the early '70s. You'll see pinups girls masturbating, black and white spreads of stripteases, lesbian sex, outdoor naked shoots, teens, mature women and lots of hardcore porn. Many of the movies are grainy and have the outdated look with "cue marks" from the video. This adds an authentic feel to your porn watching if you don't mind that sort of thing. It's part of the experience of watching old school porn after all!
Streaming and Download Options
The Historic Erotica content under "videos" is stream-only but you're able to stream and download the bonus DVDs with some giving higher bitrates than others. On average you're looking at 1500k. The quality varies depending on how old the movie is. An older movie from the early '60s or '70s may have pixelation and be out of focus in some parts, but something from the '80s or early '90s looks better despite not being in HD.
Bonus Videos and Feeds
Clicking on Historic Erotica Films will bring up a page with free video feeds from present-day sites. To find the retro stuff, go to Niches and lookup Classics. You'll find 2,130 DVDs and 10,262 scenes. There's also a section called Grindhouse Gold that has a few bonus vintage videos.
The 75 galleries can be downloaded in Zips and the amount per set varies, with some in color and others in black and white. A few have been remastered from their original prints and look pretty good!
Lack of Background Info
If there's one thing the site is missing, it's information on the content. There's no model index to tell you about these classic beauties or any interesting fun facts on the origins of the films like when they were made, the controversy surrounding the productions, etc. For example, the '70s was the decade that changed the porn industry and since the site appears to have a lot of content from this era, it would be cool if there was some historical context.
A Few Navigational Quirks
The Historic Erotica Movies under the Categories menu links to a video feeds page that has modern-day porn movies. You'll have to visit the Niches tab to bring up all the classic stuff but it's not content that is part of the site because it's coming from these third-party feeds.
Updates Have Stopped
The last update to the site was back in 2015. I also checked out the news section and the last post was back in 2014. So it doesn't look like they're planning on adding anything else.
The site isn't mobile-responsive. There also aren't any sorting options, functional tags (the links don't work on some scenes) and users can't comment, rate or keep track of their favorites.
You can stream and download the DVD archive, but 100 videos on the rest of the site are streaming-only.
While some retro sites have taken measures to remaster their collections, this is unfortunately not the case with Historic Erotica. You won't find any HD versions here. The quality is SD for all of the movies you'll come across and many of them are grainy and pixelated. If you like that vintage feel like I do, then it won't bother you so much. But if you came here thinking you'd see some remastered classics, you're out of luck.
An archive of retro porn for a good price!
Despite not having updated in a few years, Historic Erotica has an extensive archive of unique vintage porn films you won't find anywhere else. From never-before-seen shoots of Betty Page's early work to some of the '70s hottest scenes, fans of the classic porn genre will find a lot to enjoy here. It's not the most user-friendly site and the low-quality movies may pose an issue for some, but the asking price is reasonable for a site that's providing these rare vintage classics.
