Gay Star Network features a nice mix of hardcore gay action, with something for fans of twinks to older studs and everyone in between. You'll see latinos, jocks, and even some solo model sites in the network. Some of the content is original and even exclusive to the sites, making for a great, varied, and entertaining gay collection.
Easy to navigate.
The sites and network are very easy to browse. Everything is appropriately labeled, categorized, and linked so that it's easy to jump from one scene to the next, whether that next scene is from the same site, same model, same category, etc. They've got some really useful browse tools, along with things like user ratings and a favorites folder. As far as the look of the site, form follows function in this case, so it's not the flashiest, but it's a clean design that users will have no trouble getting around.
Good-size network!
The Gaystar Network is a large collection, with nearly 1,311 videos and 207 galleries featuring 871 pornstars on 17 sites. That's a great collection with enough material to keep members busy for a long time.
Loved the Flash player! You can jump around immediately, the video buffers quickly, and they even offer filmstrip navigation. Just look at the screencaps below the video and click on any one to jump to that spot in the video right away.
There are a few options for watching these scenes. They can be streamed in browser using Flash and downloaded as mp4s in two quality settings.
Members actually get a chance to interact with many of the pornstars here. Many have a profile page with a biography and links to their Twitter feeds, a very cool feature!

Network no longer updating.
The last new video was added to the site five months ago. The last photo set was added seven months ago. None of the sites are actively updating anymore, unfortunately.
Non-exclusive content.
There's a lot of non-exclusive material in the collection. Many of the sites feature DVDs that are readily available on other sites. While I definitely enjoyed the exclusive material, there was a lot of other content that I had seen before.
Average quality video.
Video quality was fine overall, but some sites were better than others. None of the sites offer high definition. The best you'll find is 1500k and 640 x 480. They weren't quite as sharp as I was expecting. It's a mixed bag at times.
Design was a bit generic. As I mentioned above, it's certainly a clean design, but it's also a bit boring. The sites are also so integrated into the network that it's hard to tell if you're still looking at one site or if you've wandered to a different site in the collection without knowing it.
A large and entertaining gay network that is no longer updating or upgrading.
Gay Star Network had a good thing going. It's a shame that they've let the sites become inactive like this. Had they kept updating, I would have also expected a quality upgrade. The good news is that there's still a large archive here and at $20 a month, it's worth the cost to check out what they were doing when updates were rolling in. The scenes are as entertaining as ever, just keep in mind that nothing new is going to be added to the collection.
