Intro

The Classic Porn is a vintage movie site with full porn movies from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. It's part of a small network of sites so members here also get access to Classic Porn Scenes and Retro Porn Archive. As far as The Classic Porn goes the guest tour has a good overview as visitors can get a look at sample thumbnails from the movies and browse the site essentially as members see it. Basically this site is a big ol' archive of movies from what some consider the golden age of porn.

The Pros

Large Archive of Classic Porn Movies from 1970s, 80s & 90s.

I've always found retro porn to be an interesting niche and The Classic Porn has a fun mix of movies with titles covering the decades of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. While exploring the site I found it to be a nice mix with a decent amount of content from each time period and overall there are a lot of movies here and lots of pornstars. Without knowing a lot of classics off hand I did find a couple of the Debbie Does Dallas series and Deepthroat. The infamous Traci Lords and everybody's pal Ron Jeremy are both represented as well.

Browse by Pornstar, Niche, Director, Year, or Keyword Search.

Navigation tools allow for several ways to browse through the movies including a chronological list by update, full model index with preview photos, and niche categories. There is also a keyword search which worked pretty well for me. I also like that the production years on the listings are hyperlinked so you can find other movies from the same year quickly.

Daily Updates, Date-Added & Release Date for Each Movie.

Updates are made at a rate of one full new movie a day which is better than usual for a site like this. They also have all the movies on the site date-stamped and the majority have their production/release year that is really helpful for vintage porn like this.

Other Good Stuff:

The in-browser Flash streaming works well in that it buffers quickly and allows for immediate jumping ahead. Movies are downloadable as well in either FLV or MP4 format (one or the other depending on the movie).
Good info is posted for each movie including front box covers, written descriptions, hyperlinked performer names, and member feedback/comments.
Company bonus sites are included which also features retro/vintage/classic porn videos.

The Cons

Weak Download Options, Only in FLV or MP4 Format.

When it comes to vintage porn you expect to give a bit when it comes to video quality but really here the format options stand out as the biggest issue. They have in-browser Flash streaming across the board which is good however the downloads are in full movie FLV files or MP4 scene clips with one or the other but not both. Essentially you're stuck with very limited choices and I'm not sure how many users are keen on FLV files that are hundreds of MB in size.

No Scene Breakdown on the Streaming or FLV Downloads.

Whether it's through the Flash streaming or FLV downloads there isn't any scene breakdown or markers which makes watching the movies less user-friendly. On the movies with the MP4 downloads those are only scene files but I didn't run into all that many movies with those available.

Minor Negatives:

Upon logging in members are presented with a big full page ad for other paysites. The monthly price here is also a more expensive than most sites and the trial is limited access.
Navigation could be improved a bit. For instance you can browse by year only by clicking on a year but there's no full breakdown by year or decade.
Some movies don't have the release year or director shown. There are also some foreign films in the mix that might not be of interest to vintage fans.

The other

The included bonus sites can be accessed directly from the members area of The Classic Porn without having to re-enter login info.

Bottom Line

A nice sized & fun vintage/classic movie archive however the download options are a weakness.

The key strengths and weaknesses of The Classic Porn are fairly straightforward. The main plus is that they have an entertaining bunch of full vintage movies with all sorts of hardcore action and titles ranging across three decades. The main stumbling block for the site is the lack of user-friendly download options as they have mostly FLV files and then a sprinkling of MP4 clips.
