Intro

Vivid.com is the website of video production company Vivid. On their roster they have some of the most beautiful hardcore porn actresses around, girls like Briana Banks, Jenna Jameson, and Tera Patrick. Their completely explicit and uncensored DVD collection is available for members to view inside.

The Pros

All original Vivid content.

The world-famous Vivid girls are here in all their glory. Each and every movie in the collection features their beautiful models and is presented in their signature, professional style. While the content doesn't appear to be exclusive, it is all very original.

Nice-looking and functional streaming videos.

The videos definitely look good. They're pulled directly from the DVDs and they look professional and sharp. I was also glad to see how quickly the streams buffered and how you could immediately jump ahead in the scenes.

Good-sized collection.

There's a whole lot of Vivid to enjoy here. There are currently 237 DVDs in the collection. Each DVD has 600-1000 photos to go along with it. I was really impressed that they were actual photos, and not just vidcaps. This is a really large collection!

Other Good Stuff:

Updates come often enough. Though exact dates are not given, members can see that five DVDs have been added in the last month. It looks like they do a bit better than weekly updates.
A special discount price is currently in place for readers of The Best Porn.
"News" page lists all Vivid press releases and keeps members up to date on what's going on in the company.

The Cons

All videos are streaming only.

I was really disappointed to find that none of Vivid's video collection could be downloaded. All scenes play in your browser using Flash. There are no options to save the movies. There aren't even any options for streaming, like multiple quality settings. It's a single stream and that's it.

More browse tools are needed.

There's an alphabetical model index and chronological list of of DVDs and that's the extent of it. There's no search feature for the models or the scenes or the DVDS. There are no categories, no user ratings, nothing at all. The thing is, each scene does have a list of categories, but it's just a text list that isn't linked to anything. It was a surprisingly basic set-up from a site from a company as big as Vivid.

Minor Negatives:

The member's area had banners and links to other paysites and camsites. They make the site feel cluttered and detract from the overall look.
The photos are much too small. 800x533 is small for a homemade amateur site. It's unheard of on a site like Vivid!

Bottom Line

An entertaining collection held back by streaming-only videos.

Overall I left Vivid.com with mixed emotions. This is such an entertaining hardcore collection but the lack of downloadable videos was extremely disappointing. The basic navigation was also surprising. The discount price of $20 a month helps but I'm not sure it's enough to make up for the streaming videos and small photos. If you're a die-hard Vivid fan, it's worth a shot, but otherwise if you're just after some hardcore DVDs there are more user-friendly sites.
