Hot Movies is up for review today, and it's got to be pretty much the largest PPV movie site out there these days. They have an incredible number of DVD's online ready for viewing in a pay-per-minute fashion. The site looks like it was made five years ago, but boasts over 120,000 DVD's, which is just crazy. While you can rent movies for a week or more for a set fee, most people will use the packaged minute options. Then, you watch the videos in your browser, and pay around 10 cents a minute (more or less, depending on how much you buy at once). You can see quite a bit of what they offer in the tour, so that's probably a good place to start checking things out.

Possibly the largest site, ever?
Where did they even find all this porn anyway? Let alone license it all to be able to sell it like this? I have no idea how much content they offer, but their site boasts over 120,000 DVD's, and I don't know that they update that number very often. There's just way too many naked women fucking here if you ask me. Aw, who am I kidding, there's no such thing.
Decent navigation features.
For such a hodgepodge site they have, I was pleasantly surprised with all the search and browse features they offered. You can filter down by as many categories as you want (and there are a ton of them), plus filter by studio, actress, etc. From there, you can view by DVD, by back cover, by scene, and more.
Large daily updates.
They add quite a few new DVD's each and every day, which has helped them build their numbers up I'm sure. It's nice to see their still alive and kicking here.
Other Good Stuff:
- For offering streaming video only, the fact that they offer three different options is pretty impressive if you ask me.
- It seems to vary from one video to the next, but the streaming player can be very, very fast in terms of buffering and playing.

Quality needs work!
With so much content, I'm not sure how they'd ever do it, but we're going to need better quality here. They all encode from the same DVD's for the most part, so I know there's room for better-looking videos. Unfortunately, they're a definite step back from other DVD sites.
Site looks pretty bad.
It functions pretty nicely at least, but it looks pretty cheesy overall. They're in definite need for an update in terms of the look and feel of the site. It feels dated as it is, and adds to that feeling that the lower video quality gives as well.
Can't view single clips easily.
I don't know how to word this problem exactly, but the way they divide clips and scenes apart is really weird. Sometimes if you jump ahead too far in a video, you're in a whole new scene from that DVD. Other times, it looks like a single scene is split up into a few parts where you can't watch it all together. It's just weird, and it could be simpler.
Minor Negatives:
- This isn't really a Hot Movies problem, but many of their videos don't work well in Firefox. It's more a Firefox problem, but it does come in to play here with all streaming videos. Plus, there's no info on this in their help section.
- If you're inactive for even a little while, the site seems to log you out quicker than most, which requires you to re-enter all your login info.

A mish-mash of greatness, and some room for improvement.
Hot Movies excels so far in some areas that it isn't even funny. They're huge, absolutely huge. They're growing daily with huge updates. They have some nice filters setup and offer three different streaming options to view their videos. Then, there's the crummy look of the site. Oh, and the crummy look of the videos too. The pay-per-minute thing is take it or leave it I think, and I won't get into it too much here. Come here for a ton of content, and the possibility of getting away without spending much. However, I'd love, love, love to see better quality, and a new design here to keep things moving forward. They offer just too good of a site to leave in its current state.
