(recurring)Brazzers Reel is up for review today, and this is mostly a DVD-type mega-site that features a ton of content in a pretty wide variety of action. However, since they also produce their own material, you can find more original scenes mixed in at times, and for some reason, they also have a whole PPV section here as well. So while $25 a month gets you in the door, around 1/4 of the scenes aren't available to you unless you pony up some more cash.
Quite a large collection.
The size of the site is the one big thing they have going for them, as you'd probably guess. There are over 50,000 scenes up that are included with your membership, and tens of thousands more if you decide to purchase some of the extras.
There are some scenes that appear to be original content
The download speeds came in very quick here. They maxed out my connection speed using both a download manager, and a standard browser download, which is impressive.
Quality is just okay.
Though there is an HD section, I didn't really see a ton of real high quality videos. Everything is DVD quality at best, which puts them behind the times in that area at this point. There's not a whole lot they can do about it, but it's getting more noticeable as quality increases all around these days.
Too many upsells here.
There are a lot of different ways you can spend more money here. First, they have channel upsells which get you access to some more unique content from other producers, but if you purchase one or two of those, you can double your price pretty quickly. They also have a relatively large VOD section that'll cost you per scene, and even though it's in its own section, it's also mixed right into the main updates. So it's hard to avoid at times.
Lots of non-exclusive material.
A lot of the content just seems to be generic DVD material. Thankfully they have some big numbers to help defray this, as most similar sites do, but just realize that the content is generally more generic here than on other sites of theirs.
Navigation could still be better.
For how much content there is, a lot more could be done to make the navigation easier. You can only choose one category to browse at a time. You can only jump ahead five pages at once out of their 1,600 pages. A site like this needs some of the most robust navigation options they can put together.
There were a few ads in the member's area which made things feel a little more cluttered than they needed to.
They have a whole HD section, but the downloads there aren't in high definition for the most part.
There's a lot to see here and some fun-enough scenes, but I don't feel that they're the best in the genre.
On the surface, Brazzers Reel is decent with some pretty big numbers and a wide variety of content to check out. However, with so many similar sites out there, you have to get pretty picky on these sites to really differentiate them from each other. Things like navigation and download options are much closer to average (or slightly below) than the best of the best. The mixing in of the VOD scenes just clutters things up, and also makes the updates much less meaningful. It's not that this is a bad site at all, it's just that there are a few better options out there in my opinion.
