Intro

Adult Empire.com is a pay-per-minute streaming DVD site that also has movies available as rentals and buy-to-own format. PPM packages are available in pre-pay packages in all sorts of time amounts ranging from 15 minute, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes, all the way up to hundreds or thousands of minutes. The guest tour is very much an open-book layout which is great for visitors. Non-members can browse the collection just as members see it so you can find out what titles, studios, pornstars, etc. they have available before making any purchase. What you see is what you get here with no surprises.

The Pros

Huge Library of DVD Titles, Tons of Studios, Stars, Etc.

Adult Empire.com fits what you expect to see in terms of quantity of content. Pay-per-minute sites like this should be built on a foundation of a gigantic library of DVDs including variety of studios, pornstars, genres, etc. That is the case here. The number of DVDs is well into the tens of thousands and there are over two thousand pornstars in their index.

Clean Straightforward Design, Several Browse Tools.

What I like best about the design is the fact that it is open and available for members and non-members to browse the collection in the same way. They simply layout the content and let surfers decide if they have the content and pricing they're looking for. Movie can be browsed by niche, star, studio, or thru a keyword search.

Streaming Loads/Buffers Quick, Can Jump Around Easily.

The streaming video is Flash player based with some movies that also have WMV and/or Silverlight as secondary options. The player loads within just a second or two and allows for immediate jumping around. I didn't have any issues at all and the time used and per-minute pricing were very accurate.

Other Good Stuff:

PPM minutes remaining is shown for your account at at the right of the site header. When viewing a videos there is a countdown ticker which keeps you informed with how many minutes you're useing.
Updates are continually being made to the site. They post both info showing both the movie production release date and the date it was added to Adult Empire.com.

The Cons

Average Video Quality, Couldn't Find Any HD Scenes.

When it comes to the PPM and rentals of course the content here is built around streaming so the downloads aren't in play unless you're more focused on buy-to-own. The quality of the player is mid-range and although they have a 'HD' filter box I didn't see movies that had high-def even when using that tool. The Flash player is sometimes the only one while other times WMV and/or Silverlight are also available so it's hit-and-miss in that regard. When you click 'Watch Scene' the player opens immediately. There isn't a verification screen to make sure you want to watch and use your minutes.

No Advanced Search, Pornstar Index Organized by Niche.

The search tool is a basic keyword search so they don't have a more detailed dynamic advanced search and filter tool that would have been useful on such a big collection. The pornstar index is broken down by ethnicity, body type, and hair color so that's somewhat useful but the ability to filter/search that in other ways is lacking.

Some 'Premium' Priced Movies & Some Buy/Rent Only.

There are some studios that apparently have terms whereby Adult Empire.com has to have different pricing or viewing options. Some movies are 'premium' priced with ratios like 2:1 or 3:1 meaning every 1 minute of viewing costs multiple minutes from your account. I also ran into a few movies without the pay-per-view at all but only in rent/buy formats. The PPM credits don't translate to the rent/buy. Those are separate prices and they go directly to your credit card.

Minor Negatives:

Some movies have scene markers on the status bar of the stream but others don't. They're really useful so it's a bummer that a lot of the movies don't have that little feature.

Bottom Line

Tons of DVDs available in a pay-per-minute, rent, or buy-to-own options.

Adult Empire.com delivers in the ways that a PPM site should. They have tones of DVDs to choose from and the pricing structure is clearly laid out. Because of the open-book style tour surfers should know what they're getting before they even sign up. It's a good site for those who like these type of sites with DVDs available in PPV, rent, or buy format.
