Intro

COLT Studios is one of the bigger names in the gay porn niche. I'm terrible when it comes to company and pornstar names but even I have heard of these guys. As an established production company you would expect movies to be the focus of the content here and that is indeed the case. The guest tour actually allows visitors to browse the collection exactly as member's see it which is helpful. Guests can go through the Updates, DVDs, Men, and Photos section to get a real feel for what is available here.

The Pros

COLT Studio Hardcore Content, Many Movie Series & Niches.

The content here is a blend of DVDs and photo galleries. The DVDs which can be browses by full movie or individual scene are the main component of the content. Some of the series in the collection include Minute Man, Couples, and Best of COLT along with various other titles. It's a mix of solo guy and hardcore action. The photo galleries also feature a blend of individual guys in solo shoots along with hardcore scenes.

Professional Design, DVD/Niche Browsing & Model Index.

The overall look of the site is sharp and clean which is fitting a company like COLT. A navigation header has clearly defined DVD, photo, men, and updates sections which are straightforward. The left margin has niche breakdown of the movies which is another way to access the material. The model index has a full alphabetical list and can be filtered to show Featured and Most Popular men.

Lots of Scenes Added During Each Weekly Update.

The additions here are logged on an update history page which goes back a few months. The way they do it is to add new stuff once per week however they do add a bunch of scenes during each update. So while the once per week pace isn't all that fast they seem to make up for it by having good sized updates.

Other Good Stuff:

Flash streaming buffers quickly and you can jump ahead immediately. Newer additions have higher video specs/quality.
Members can rate videos and models on a 5-star scale.
These guys have set up a special discount price for TBP users which makes the cost lower than their standard rate.

The Cons

Videos are Streaming Only, No Downloads.

This is the negative that stands out the most. Whenever a paysite restricts the movie formats to only streaming it's going to be an issue. Surfers have come to expect downloads and in fact the trend seems to be towards higher and higher quality movies. The fact that COLT sticks only to Flash and that the quality levels are average for most movies does take away from the site's value.

Pictures are Average Sized Images, No Zip Files.

The quality and size of the pictures varies from gallery to gallery. Overall they are average looking for a paysite, especially a professional studio. The images can't be downloaded as zips nor are there any picture size/quality options.

Some Niche Categories Have Only a Few Videos Available.

The niche categories 'Athletes' and 'Muscular' have the most entries and there are some like 'Huge Dick', 'Bodybuilder', 'Twink', and 'Asian' only have a few movies in them. Depending on what you're into the collection may or may not have a lot of the types of guys or action you're looking for.

Minor Negatives:

Not a large site. I expected a bigger collection of DVDs from a studio like COLT.
Picture galleries are not date-stamped with update details like the videos.
There are some advertisements and upsells in the member's area for things like DVDs and supplements

Bottom Line

COLT Studios DVD movies & picture galleries but it's streaming-only without downloads.

The movie and picture content are what I expected from a studio site like this. There is a mix of hardcore and solo guy action from this company's content library. The main drawback is the fact that they have no movie downloads. The design is sharp but there are a few too many upsell ads for my liking. Overall there is about an even mix of positives and negatives here.
