Intro

Naked Sword is a gay movie site featuring thousands of DVDs from the top studios in gay porn. Falcon, Colt, Naked Sword, and others comprise this entertaining package of hardcore films. Naked Sword has been keeping fans hot and bothered since 1996, so I was definitely intrigued to see what was behind their staying power.

The Pros

Hardcore gay collection with some exclusive material.

This is a hot gay collection that covers a huge range of stars and styles. You'll see it all here, from hunks to Asians to bears and just about anything else in between. They feature several popular studios as well as offering their own section of exclusive movies in the Golden Gate series. Enjoy favorites like Tommy Defendi, Rusty Stevens and Topher Dimaggio in this hot collection of scenes.

Huge site.

Naked Sword has been online for 15 years, so they've had time to put together a very impressive collection of scenes. There are currently 2,554 DVDs online. That's DVDs, not just scenes. Members will find thousands of hours of great porn here.

Easy to navigate.

Getting around the large site was easy enough. Browse the videos by date, popularity, studio, or theme. There's also a keyword search. The important scene facts are all cross-linked so when you find a movie you enjoy, its easy to jump to scenes with the same model, director, studio, or theme. It's a solid set-up.

Other Good Stuff:

The favorites folder, user ratings, and mailing list are all good user tools.
Updates come daily, with two new movies added to the site each and every day.

The Cons

Most videos are streaming only, others are DRM protected.

All newer scenes play in browser using Silverlight. These movies have no option to download at all. As you go back in the collection, you'll see that the older movies do include a wmv download link, but those scenes are DRM protected. Either way, you're not keeping these movies after your membership expires.

Average-quality video.

Come from such big name studios, I was surprised that the video quality was this average. It's not a bad-looking collection and the newer scenes labeled HD are nice and sharp, but overall I can't say that quality was one of the strengths of the site.

Minor Negatives:

Most of the scenes here are non-exclusive and can be found on other sites.
There are a few more browse tools that could be added, including a model index. An advanced search tool would also be helpful.

Bottom Line

A huge collection of entertaining streaming-only gay DVDs.

It's easy to see why Naked Sword is still keeping fans happy 15 years after launching. They've got a well-designed site, a massive collection, great updates, and an entertaining collection with some exclusive scenes. The big negative is, of course, the download limits on the collection. From the DRM to the streaming-only videos, it was quite disappointing. If you're looking to build your own gay porn library, you'll have to keep looking. However, if you don't mind streaming video, Naked Sword is a polished collection that gay fans will enjoy.
