Intro

Spunk Starz is a gay hardcore site that focuses in on amateur guys. Content includes both video scenes and photo galleries with lots of guy/guy sex along with groups and some solo scenes. It's also part of CJ XXX which is a network of sites all of which are gay-themed and have various niche focuses.

The Pros

Amateur Gay Content; Guy/Guy, Group, Solo & Interview Content.

The action here has young adult guys in lots of hardcore action with guy/guy BJs and banging being most common. They mix things up with some threesomes, groupsex, and solo masturbation as well. Furthermore I like that they have a section of interview videos with more than a few dozen entries since that adds another element to the content. They also have a cumshot section however that one isn't updated much anymore with most of those shoots being from the early days of the site.

Nice Sized Collection, Regular & Consistent Updates.

As far as network niches of this kind go Spunk Starz has a respectable amount of content with well over a hundred video scenes and roughly the same amount of photo galleries. The site has been online for a few years and steady weekly updates have enabled them to put together the decent-sized archive. All content items are date-stamped showing when they were added to the site.

Other Good Stuff:

Pictures are nice quality at 1280x850 and can be viewed online or saved in zips.
Videos are available in full-scene WMV files along with an iPod MP4 option. Download speeds are quite good.
Network bonus sites are included and they all feature gay content with hardcore niche collections similar to what's here at Spunk Starz. Bonus sites are accessible thru the Spunk Starz member's area.

The Cons

Average to Low Quality Videos, Streaming is in WMV.

Video quality is one area where there could be improvements made. The full-scene WMV downloads top out at 1500k 640x480 which I think is more fitting as a mid-range level. A high-res choice would give the content a better feel. The in-browser streaming is basic with just WMV which, of course, isn't as user-friendly as something like Flash.

Navigation is Basic, No Model Index or Niche Categories.

They have enough different types of action, different models/ethnicities, and enough content to justify some additional navigation features. The guest tour actually has a Models page however and index like that isn't part of the member's area. The only things they really have in place are a separate section for the interview videos and a basic keyword search.

Minor Negatives:

My download manager (software: IDM) wasn't compatible here with only 1-channel functionality and no pause/resume.
Limited content details provided on the scenes and there isn't really any model information.
There are some upsells in the member's area like content DVDs and a link to a live webcam service.

The other

Some extra content items included are 3rd party feeds and Flash games.

Bottom Line

A nice collection of hardcore gay amateur content plus access to a larger network.

Spunk Starz is one of those sites that does things pretty well but doesn't do anything that'll knock your socks off. They have an okay sized collection and I also like the mix of hardcore action along with the sprinkling in of solo performances and interview videos. Videos work fine in WMV but could use a quality boost and/or more options for users. It's best to look at the site as one part in the larger CJ XXX network since it's all gay material and the other sites will probably be of interest to this site's members.
