Intro

Dark Thunder is a gay niche site that also has the further emphasis of black guys along with some interracial. With so many sites in the gay niche a specialty like ebony does help to differentiate Dark Thunder from the crowd. The gust tour is pretty informative as sections like "The Men" and other areas mirror the layout that is found in the member's area.

The Pros

Hardcore & Solo Guy Black Gay Picture/Video Collection.

The vast majority of both the videos and picture galleries are dedicated to black guy/guy hardcore action. Some variety comes in the form of solo guy masturbation and interracial shoot but those make up a small portion of the collection. There is also a section called "Club Auto Shop" with hardcore galleries.

Sortable Model Index & Dedicated Picture/Video Sections.

These are the major navigation sections for getting around the collection. The model index can be sorted alphabetically, chronologically, by most viewed, and top rated. The dedicatedd pic and vid sections can also be sorted by these methods.

Flash & WMV Streaming, Quick Buffer & Jump-Ahead Capability.

I found the streaming to be more user-friendly than the downloads. The streams have Flash and WMV format with multiple quality levels. The Flash loaded quickly and it was possible to jump around right away. The actual video quality was only average but the functionality was solid.

The Cons

WMV Downloads are DRM Protected.

WMV is the only format available for downloading. These are also DRM protected which always jumps out as an issue since it is restrictive and pretty rare among paysites. I was able to download these files both through my browser and with a download manger (IDM).

Pictures & Videos are Average Quality.

Content quality and specs aren't all that impressive here. The WMV videos are 1500k 640x480 and the streaming Flash was about on par with that too. The pictures come in at 900x600 which is nothing to write home about for a paysite.

Very Little Update Information is Provided.

Besides the short log on the member's home page of the few most recent additions there is little update information to be found. The individual movies and gallery pages have no details posted. It's tough to get a read on what kind of update pace they've had historically.

Minor Negatives:

The downloadable movie files do not have any file size information posted.
The pictures are in one size and there aren't zip file downloads available.

Bottom Line

Summing up Dark Thunder is pretty easy. The best thing going for the site is the ebony focus and that nearly all the content has hardcore guy/guy action. What's holding the site back is the content quality and options. The DRM'd videos really stand out as an issue that most surfers aren't going to like. Since little update information is provided it'll be interesting to check back in the future to see if the site has grown or evolved.
