Intro

Bizarre Video is a movie site with fetish and bdsm oriented videos and there is also a European flavor in play as well. The content is divided up into three main areas: Standard Videos, HD Videos, and Retro Videos. So with the HD and retro sections in place they bring those sub-niches into play along with their fetish/bdsm/Euro emphasis. These guys forego picture content and just stick to movie/video content. The guest tour does give visitors a pretty good feel for what they have to offer.

The Pros

Fetish/BDSM Movies; Standard, Retro, & High-Res Sections.

Bizarre Video features a mixture of movies that are fetish/bdsm related and fall into three content categories: Standard, Retro, and High-Res. whereas most movie sites are targeted towards a general audience this site clearly is more meant for fetish fans. The Retro section seems to be nice sized which is plus since content like that can be difficult to find.

MP4 Scene Downloads/Streams, Full DVD WMV Downloads.

The set-up for the viewing includes MP4 format only for the individual scenes. They initially open with an in-browser stream and from that page there is a download link. Scrolling down leads to more movie details and full-DVD downloadable WMV files.

The content categorization is fairly straightforward with the three main content categories and then further sub-sections. Episodes in each area are listed chronologically with the newest entries posted first. Quite a lot of movie details are provided on the individual video pages.

The Cons

Site Navigation, Page Loading, & Downloading are Slow.

The speed of the site is sluggish and this comes into play when navigating or downloading. Page loading and browsing is slow and the download speed is around 150-300KB/sec which is painful for movie files of any size. It really is a big negative on the full-DVD files which are very large files and have long download times. Buffering on the MP4 files is the one area that worked okay in terms of speed.

No WMV Format for the Individual Video Scenes.

The most common set-up here seems to be that the individual video scenes have MP4 format only in one quality level. Then the full-DVD files have WMV in a couple levels and MP4 option. For some reason they don't have WMV available on the individual scenes so you'll have to get the huge full-files to access that format. Some movies (like HD) have MP4 as the only choice.

Minor Negatives:

Video quality varies with some older/retro movies being grainy with low specs.
Full-DVD WMV high-quality downloads have average quality/specs around 2500k 700x530.
No file size info shown for the DVD WMV or MP4 downloads.
There are some upsells in the member's area like DVD sales and a store.

Bottom Line

Bizarre Video has a specialized fetish/bdsm/vintage collection of downloadable movies.

Bizarre Video does separate itself from the crowd with a few distinct characteristics. The content is a pretty unique mix of fetish oriented videos and the vintage section is a nice touch as well. Also, you don't often see full-DVD movie downloads as an option from movie site so that stands out as something surfers might be interested in. The main negatives are he download speed and to a lesser extent the movie formatting with MP4 being more prevalent than WMV. Downloads are just way too slow for those big DVD files and the HD level videos. It's frustrating when a site offers those things and then seeing that the download speed makes them difficult to utilize. So overall the fetish movie content is the main asset and the infrastructure is okay but could use some improving.
