Intro

Where does one even begin with a site as large as HomegrownVideo.com? The ultimate in amateur erotica, Homegrown was the first company to distribute homemade porn, beginning in 1982. You've probably heard of them at some point as they've been featured on Playboy, Extra, Hard Copy, Larry King Live, and even Newsweek. Basically, it's impossible to discuss amateur porn without mentioning HomeGrown.

The Pros

Real amateur content.

One of the things that makes Homegrown Video stand out most is that their entire collection is built out of real amateur movies. These are scenes that regular couples shot in their own bedrooms for our viewing pleasure. What we see is what they enjoy, whether that's blowjobs, anal, lesbians, toys, creampies, or fucking. You won't find these amateur scenes anywhere else.

Huge collection!

Homegrown Video has been around since 1982, and while the site of course isn't that old, they've still be an online presence for years and have had time to put together a really impressive collection. Members can currently enjoy 4,900 videos along with more than 900 vidcap galleries. That's a huge archive that will keep members plenty entertained.

Easy to navigate.

Getting around is surprisingly easy. They've built in some great navigational features that allow you to sort their large collection by category, series, and date. There's also a keyword search. You can select the thumbnail size, as well. Everything is appropriately labeled and tagged and it's easy to jump from one scene to the next.

Good video viewing options.

I was impressed with how many choices members have for watching the movies. First off, you can stream it in Flash and Windows Media in three quality settings each. If you prefer to download, you have WMV clips and full-length scenes in four quality settings. Then there's an iPod download in two quality settings. That's a great set of options that should cover most members' needs.

Other Good Stuff:

Homegrown has a great personality that is largely due to the active community behind it. Homegrown has been around a long time now and has a very dedicated following. They influence many of the major aspects of the site. Check out the forum for a peek at what's going on here.
Updates come daily. In fact, two new videos are added to the site every day. It's no wonder the site is as large as it is!

The Cons

Average quality.

Quality varies, but overall it needs work. Even the newer videos that I watched that played at 2000k still looked, well, amateur. The older videos, as you'd expect, looked even more so. I understand this is an amateur site that features entirely homemade porn, so you should come into this site knowing that you're not getting studio pro work.

Older scenes lack options.

When you go back in the collection, you'll find some viewing options missing. The older scenes lack the multiple Flash options, the iPod downloads, and the "super high quality" wmv option. These were all added later.

Minor Negatives:

There are no photos here, just videos and vidcaps. I don't know why that surprised me, "Video" is in the site name, but I still expected to see some pictures.
Some of the videos are streaming-only. If you go to the Classics section of the site, you'll find that all 2,077 videos there will only stream. It's a shame that such a large portion of the site cannot be saved.
There are some ads in the member's area. There aren't too many but they're there nonetheless.

Bottom Line

With this much real amateur erotica, it's a must see for amateur fans.

Homegrown is a true amateur-lover's website. The community and collection are what really make this site stand out. There's so much to enjoy here and judging from the site's history, it's just going to keep getting better and better. Membership is $30 a month which is very reasonable for a collection like this.
