Cams At Home is up for review today, and this is a pretty unassuming cam site. Girls wait here for you to check out their chat room, like what you see, and then they will go into private (or group) shows for a per-minute fee. It can get quite expensive of course, since you're paying for every minute you watch, but you get a little more control over what the girls will do. Prices range from $1/minute for the happy hour specials, to $4-$5 a minute for the more in-demand girls.
The Pros
More options than most cam sites.
As you can see below, almost all of the "pros" here come from all the extra options and features that their cam system offers. You can read more about them below, but basically you shouldn't judge a book by its cover here, as there's more than meets the eye.
Wow, there are a lot of cheesy catchphrases there.
Other Good Stuff:
The bidding feature caught my eye first, since you can get into shows for less than the published price. Basically, if you agree to buy a package of minutes from a girl up front, you can get in for half price or so. However, other people will have 60 seconds in which to outbid you for the time, so be careful!
They have software in place that can translate your posts in the chat room on the fly. I'm not sure how well it works, but that's pretty cool.
The cam-to-cam feature is pretty nice to have, just in case you want the girl to watch you too. Some girls feature audio and phone calls as well.
There are a few ways to get the pricing down from the regular per-minute cost. Some of those include the auction mentioned above, others may be the happy hour discounts, etc.
Once you leave a girl's cam room, especially if it's a short session, you get a feedback form that asks if there were any problems. I don't know how much they stay on top of it, but it's a great way to let them know about poor camera performance, bitchy girls, or whatever.
The Cons
Design and site itself are pretty plain/confusing.
When I first hit the site, I wasn't that excited at all. It looks very dated and very plain in terms of design, which doesn't give off a great impression.
Plus, many of the features are hidden behind random buttons that have no meaning until you hover over them, which makes navigation and using the cam system pretty confusing from the get go.
Minor Negatives:
It's not tiny at least, but it's also not the largest cam system we've seen out there. I'd always love more performers.
As with any cam site, things can get quite expensive compared to a normal paysite if you spend a lot of time here. For some of these girls, 5-7 minutes would equal a whole month's membership somewhere else.
The quality of the cams isn't anything special here. Some girls are better than others, but most of them are pretty average (for webcams) at best.
Bottom Line
You wouldn't know it by looking at it, but there are some unique features here.
When I first hit up Cams At Home, it actually looked like one of the more plain/boring cam sites out there. The design is very amateurish, and feels quite dated. There's lots of random buttons that I have no idea what they do at first, and lots of random spelling errors and oddities (probably due to a coder who wasn't a native English speaker). The 102 girls that were online was decent, but nothing special. However, when you dive in and figure everything out, there are more options than usual here. Everything from language translations, to the cam-to-cam, to the bidding/auction discount pricing, etc. are pretty unique. If they could polish things up a ton and offer even more girls, they could really go somewhere I think.
