Just what the hell is Yanks anyway, I wondered as I opened up the page for today's review. Being from the USA, I would usually associate it with a slang term for an American person. However, being in porn, you never know what crazy alternative definition they might have (gay dudes who masturbate?). They don't explain it much on the tour, but the subtle red, white, and blue (and one pic of an American flag I saw) gives me the idea that it's a porn site for American chicks. Their tagline reads, "Celebrating women celebrating themselves," and it seems they focus on girl-next-door videos of real amateurs masturbating. The tour is simple but quite nice, and the price is even better thanks to the exclusive $10 a month membership we've secured for our readers only.
The member's area looks decent as well (especially for such a simple site), except for all the third-party links at the bottom of the page - at least they're out of the way I guess. They offer a few ways to browse the site: top-rated models, latest updates, model's index, or videos, pictures, and stories in their own categories. The updates list shows something new is up every few days or so which is good enough for me.
Though it's easiest (for me at least) to browse through their generic photo list, you actually get a bit more out of it by checking out the model's page first. You can't find a model very easy since they're in chronological order, but it gets the job done. Besides a short bio and some stats, they scan in a masturbation bio the girl filled out so you can read it in her own words which is unique. You can also easily find her other galleries or videos from here of course. Strangely, when you're viewing an actual gallery, there's no link back to the model's page which is stupid.
The galleries themselves are pretty straightforward, with a slideshow being the only real extra they have in place. There are no zips or multiple photo sizes unfortunately. The pictures themselves are fine, but nothing great. Just under 800x600 seems to be the norm, and they have a slightly older amateur feel to them for me, though they're usually clear and well-lit at least.
Videos come in two formats, Quicktime and Windows Media Video, and each of those has two quality options available. They mostly just break them into a few different scenes (the interview, part 1 & 2 or something similar), though once that's done they don't break it down any further into clips. WMV specs came in at 550x412 and only 312kbps which isn't that great. Quality was as expected with those numbers, which is barely okay but definitely needing a little work. They initially play in your browser, but have a link to download them, though downloads came slower than I like to see.
So there are some definite goods and bads here. First, the quality isn't that great unfortunately, which is what hurts them the most I think. There are also a few small navigation issues that could be addressed. On the other hand, it's cheap (for our users) at $10 a month, I think the content is all exclusive, and they update regularly. If you can get past the shortcomings, it's a nice little bargain here that might be worth a look.
