Xmovies looks to be another huge video site really coming after some of our top contenders. It looks like most any other video site you'd see out there, but the general specs look pretty decent here. They have 1,176 DVD's up right now, and we've got a special price setup to get you inside for $20 a month instead of $30 a month. You can browse around their site quite easily without even buying a password to check it out, so why not take a look around before plopping your money down?
The goods:
- Lots of videos up of course. If you don't have at least several hundred DVD's online, you might as well wait a while before launching as you just won't even compete. They have a decent number up, though there are other video sites with more content. However, compared to a normal site, there are way more porn scenes here for sure.
- Updated daily. One new DVD a day goes online which keeps things pretty fresh. Again, compared to most any normal porn site, they're kicking ass adding a new full DVD each day. However, to really crack our top video sites, you're competing with people who put up multiple DVD's every day. Competition is stiff!
- Divx videos look nice! This is how their other video types should look, but that's not the case. The DivX version is the best-looking, and it looks pretty good, but it's not quite up to the highest level we've seen from other sites yet.
The bads:
- Navigation could be even more robust. They let you browse via the standard methods: chronologically, popularity, by studio, series, pornstar, or a single category. However, that doesn't really help me find new stuff very easily. Assume I want to see threesomes with an Asian girl, it's almost impossible to do without getting lucky. Their category selection only returns DVD's as results, and only lets you choose one. The simple search box returned no results for "asian threesome" or even "threesome cumshot" which I know should be out there. I'd like an easier way to find one scene with specific features, instead of just a whole DVD.
- MPG and WMV videos look awful. They obviously have some kind of high-quality version of these DVD's to rip from, so why not give us some meaningful extra video options instead of putting the quality so low that they're not watchable really?
- Downloads were a bit slow for me. They were about half of our full potential speed here, but on a video-based site like this, I think bandwidth should be a top priority. You need a lot of monitoring going on to make sure you're providing the best experience for the most users.
Conclusion:
They offer a lot here for your money, especially at the lower price we've got going. I say it time and time again, but you'll get a lot of porn for your money compared to most paysites out there. However, compared to other video sites, they're lagging just a little bit and that's going to hold them back from earning a top spot. These things are fixable, but it'll take some time for sure. On the other hand, they do a lot of things right and deserve a look if you're interested in seeing something new.

X Movies is still alive and kicking, and they have continued to update regularly since our last visit. They're now approaching the 2,000 DVD mark, which is a pretty big jump. They've also improved the video quality a bit, bringing it much closer to the average quality we're used to seeing on a site like this. The rest of the site remains pretty much the same from what I remember, but even those two changes are good to see here. Hopefully they can continue growing and upgrading things around here on our next visit!
