Because Virgin Films features European performers and scenes it has a bit of a different feel than most movie sites that I review. The content on the site is indeed all videos which works for me. The only pictures are the four preview thumbs provided for each scene. The sample pics on the tour are representative of what scenes are available for members.
The Goods:
- Large Collection European Videos. With over three hundred movies the site has a good sized collection of content. I'm not all that familiar with Euro porn so to me this stuff was new to me. I can say there is a section for "exclusive content" which has 20 videos.
- Hardcore, Solo, Toys, & Other Sections. Hardcore boy/girl is the most prominent type of action but there are also these sections as well: Solo, Lesbians, Toys, and Old&Young. There are enough scenes in each category to make for a decent mix of action.
- Full Movie Files & Clips for Many Vids. Generally speaking each movie is offered as clips and there is a full-movie download as well. It's not the case for all clips as I'll mention in my "bads" list but there are enough with these options to point it out.
The Bads:
- Varying Vid Quality & Options. The video quality is either good or below average depending on which movie you happen to be on. Also, the number of clips per movie can vary quite a bit and some of the movies have no full-movie file option.
- Background Music in Some Videos. As with the quality this seemed to be hit-and-miss. It was only present on some of the movies. It's a subjective thing as well but in some of the movies the music was loud meaning you couldn't hear the performers. It did annoy me when there was the loud music.
- No Video Format Options. Aside from the clips and full-movie files (when offered) there aren't any other choices for video formatting. It would be nice if they expanded the options to include different quality levels or video formats.
Conclusion:
It's definitely the European style of the movies that gives Virgin Films its identity. For those who collect downloadable movies there's some stuff you may find of interest because it's a little different. What I'll be looking for when we get back for a follow-up review is the consistency of the video formatting and quality.
