(recurring)Vintage Taboo is up for review today, and I get a kick out of these sites for some reason. I love checking out true amateur porn (most of this seems as real as it gets) from bygone eras. You can see everything from fashion to sexual activity changes right in front of you, all over the course of a century or so. This site specifically has quite a bit of content to check out, and quite a few updates. $22 a month gets you in the door, which isn't bad at all I'd say.
Quite a large collection.
Shoot, for the type of content they offer, I'd say this site is downright huge. They have somewhere around 14,000 photos total, and around 800 video clips. Those are all split up into the different decades they offer, so you may not be into all of it, but it's still a great-sized collection.
Fun vintage material.
Like I said earlier, I love this stuff. It takes a little longer to find a scene I'm into, but I'm intrigued the whole time. You get to see real people from dozens of years ago doing things that were incredibly taboo at the time (hence the name of the site, I'd guess!). It's just a fun look at something a little different from the norm.
Updates come often.
I'm not sure where they find all this new material exactly, but they add new content several times per week. They average around three new photo sets and three new videos each week, which is great overall.
Quality isn't great.
Hey, for some of this stuff (like from 1930), the low quality is pretty expected. You're dealing with ancient recording techniques and the effect of time. However, even some of the newer stuff is pretty low in quality. Even while the picture may be bad, that doesn't mean they need to make the video size so small.
Navigation is just so-so.
It's actually a very well-categorized site overall, with everything broken up into type (picture or video), decade, and then even further down into categories sometimes. However, I need a better place to just find what's new, or what's hot. Even a search feature would be great, maybe to see all the lesbian content in one place.
For some reason, they don't offer any streaming or Flash videos, which may annoy some.
As expected, they don't have actual photo galleries here, with 30 images from a single shoot. They mostly deal in single images put together into a collection.
The design of the site is incredibly plain. It works, but it offers no personality or anything.
You don't get much scene info or anything here. I'd guess they don't know much about them, but I still missed knowing more about what I was looking at.
It's not going to compete with modern sites, but it's a great break from the porn norm.
Vintage Taboo won't be for everyone, but for people like me, it's a great escape from the ordinary for sure. You can see everything from solo women showing off to some actual hardcore lesbian and boy/girl material. Sure, the quality isn't there, even on some of the newer stuff. Sure, the navigation isn't slick or robust. But beyond all that, the content can be interesting, and I think that matters most here. They do pretty well to get a lot of content up, and several weekly updates as well. Make sure the content is for you, and you should have some fun here; it's as good (or better) than the other similar sites I've seen out there.
