Intro

Vintage Bareback is up for review today, and what a unique site this one is. I've seen a few vintage sites in the straight niche, but nothing like this for the gay niche. You have old content (from like several decades ago) of dudes getting it on without condoms. It's different from the norm for sure. $35 a month gets you in the door which is a little high for sites these days, though I guess the uniqueness may make it worthwhile.

The Pros

Pretty unique vintage gay content.

The whole theme of the site here is definitely the main reason someone would join - I've just never seen anything too similar out there before. Old content, as in dozens of years old, all with full hardcore gay action. The no condom thing isn't too surprising since the content is so old, in my opinion.

The Cons

No video downloads available.

Ouch, this one sucks. All of the videos are not downloadable at all unfortunately, so you're stuck remaining a member and watching them in your browser at best. Even worse, they're not even streaming (see below).

Needs some growth; updates aren't dated.

With around 120 photo galleries and just over 80 videos, it's not a tiny, tiny site, but I think they need more material for sure. I'd look for a few hundred scenes to really get this one off the ground and encourage people to stick around a bit.

Navigation needs work.

Everything here is just lumped together in one big page full of content. Movies are designated with a note that they are "MOVIES," but that's about it. Don't expect any categories, search, or even separation of the photos and videos at this point.

Minor Negatives:

In addition to not offering downloads for their videos, the video player they do have isn't even true streaming. You can't jump around until the full video is loaded, which is about as weak as it comes.
$35 a month is a lot to spend for any site these days. Add in the small size and questionable updates, and it's even worse.
There are no zip files available here for the photo galleries, which may be annoying for some.

The other

It probably doesn't really need to be mentioned, but the quality here is definitely well below what you're used to seeing overall due to the age.

Bottom Line

Some very interesting content, but just not enough going on to really get into for that long.

Vintage Barebacks wins huge points with their unique scenes for sure. I've never really seen any vintage gay sites before, so this one was a nice surprise. However, even the best of niches can't save a site with so many downfalls. There's not enough to see, the content isn't exclusive, the quality isn't great (duh), they don't seem to grow much, they don't allow downloads, etc., etc., etc. That's just too much stacked against them in my opinion. If you really like the niche, check it out for a month, but I can't imagine sticking around too long with the current setup.
