Video Box has been one of our top-rated sites for a while now and that distinction is certainly well-earned. They seem to have it all, a large collection, high quality movies, frequent updates, a great design, and a low price. They were one of the pioneers in the now packed genre of DVD archive sites. Here you'll find a little something for anyone who likes adult movies on one of the most user-friendly sites we've had the pleasure of reviewing.
The Pros
Huge collection of DVDs!
Video Box offers a massive library for its users. There are currently 7,135 full-length DVDs in their collection. That works out to nearly 40,000 scenes featuring thousands of stars. There are 42 categories, so no matter what your interest is, you're bound to find it inside.
Large daily updates.
This big site is growing by the hour. Every day, five or six new DVDs are added. They even have a countdown timer so you can see exactly how long until the next update occurs (only four minutes left for me!). All new updates are posted on the member's homepage so you can attempt to keep up with the newest scenes.
Great download options.
Members have plenty of choices for how they want to watch their movies. There are three WMV options, along with an mp4 (H.264) and iPhone file. You can also create custom downloads, starting and stopping at the exact points in the scene that you choose.
The videos look very good.
The quality here is quite high. While it's not quite high definition, it is most certainly DVD resolution. Some of the recent movies play at up to 9000k! Even their older scenes added back in 2005 impressed me with 4300k. The scenes are sharp and really good quality.
Brilliant streaming player.
Similar to the custom downloads, you can also create custom streams. Using the filmstrip, you choose where in the action you want your stream to begin and where you want it to end. With the instant buffering, there's no delay to enjoying your favorite parts of all the scenes.
Other Good Stuff:
The price is very fair. Join at $15 a month for a standard membership (basic quality) or for $20 a month (a special price offered to readers of The Best Porn), you can access their higher quality collection. Both are good deals for what you're getting.
Plenty of info is available about each scene. They list the stars, director, categories, studio, date added, scene lengths, individual file sizes, and exactly which stars in in the particular scenes, not just in the DVD
Getting around is easy, thanks to a clean design, and plenty of browse and search tools. Categories, stars, studios, and series are all listed, along with new and top rated movies. The other thing I loved was how they let users browse by both scene and DVD! It's amazing how few sites give users the choice, but it's a great option to have.

The Cons
Mainly non-exclusive content.
That's the nature of a DVD archive site like this. Nearly all of the content here can be found elsewhere. These are DVDs that you can find on other sites or by ordering the actual DVD yourself. The only exceptions are some semi-exclusive scenes and the Vivid and Evil Angel channels.
Minor Negatives:
No HD video content. This is a very minor gripe, since many other DVD sites have no HD videos yet, but since VideoBox does everything else ahead of the curve, I will say I was expecting them here.
Loved the streaming player and instant buffering, but I wish higher quality video was an option.
The premium studio content from Vivid and Evil Angel are excellent choices, but the added cost will be a little high for most.
Inconsistent video quality. Newer movies play at up to 9000k while older scenes are less than half that.
Bottom Line
Your ultimate DVD destination!
Even years after we first looked at Video Box, I'm still impressed. They've put together a huge collection, made the site super user-friendly, and done it all at a great price. The main thing I'd like to see at this point are true high definition videos. However, that's not to say that these videos don't look great because they definitely do. All in all, Video Box is probably your best join for a DVD archive site. They've got it all, baby!
