Looking over Velvet Ecstasy, there's a real lack of a theme for me. I think if I could build a generic/standard porn site, this one might fit the bill perfectly. They do basically all you'd expect, with no more and no less. They basically focus on bringing you exclusive hardcore videos on a weekly basis, at a good price.
Their member's area is setup with a standard menu along the left side; clicking "exclusives" will take you to their content. From there, you can choose which year of content you'd like to see, or view it all at once. I think they update with one new scene a week, which is one of the things I wish they'd change. More updates are always better than less ;-)
Each scene contains some video (usually about 15 minutes worth), as well as some photos. The pictures simply follow along during the video shoot, so it's not exactly brand new material, although it doesn't appear that they're screen caps either (although they offer caps as well at the bottom of the gallery). Each scene has a paragraph or two describing the happy couple, along with a weird photoshopped picture from the shoot.
The pics are nothing to write home about, as they're pretty small. Heck, the screen caps are bigger than the actual pictures for some reason. Ok, inserting my foot in my mouth, they apparently have larger photos available if you click the link underneath the pic. They look decent quality-wise, as I think they shoot it all themselves and have a good grasp on lighting and all. The initial pics are just 500x375, which is pretty small. They leave them at this size in the slideshow scene, but once you click the link below the pics, they open up to a much larger (and nicer looking) 1024x768 or so. The quality is pretty damn good, once you open them up! The screen caps almost look decent as well, but you can't expect too much from them. Obviously I'd rather just watch the actual video for that stuff.
The videos are fun to watch, although the quality isn't quite where I want it to be. Each scene is broken up into a few clips. The first ones (with the thumbnails) play in your browser, but underneath that there's the text links which let you download them (or play em in your own player). They're all in Windows Media format, at 250kbps. The lighting is good, and the girl's are usually cute, but the overall quality is just ok. With this being the main content of the site, I'd love to see an upgrade here in the future.
They have a lot of extras from other sites, that are mostly a few image galleries from sites you might have heard of (Viv Thomas, Want Boobs, Swoit, and more). There's also some submitted stories to take a look at, which about rounds out their member's area. Like I said, it's real simple, but it gets the job done.
For $20, it's actually not too bad a value, as long as you're not looking for the highest quality content. If they improved the quality of both their photos and videos, I'd feel a lot better about recommending it. The weekly update schedule also hurts them a bit, although it's not completely horrible. While nothing pops out here as overly exciting, it's just some good old porn, with some decent amateur chicks. Hopefully next time we look, the things they need to work on will have been upgraded a bit.

I went back to this site and was disappointed at first to see much of the same look they had before. I really think they need a redesign here to keep up with the times! Getting around is exactly the same, and updates seem to be similar (although it's barely more than one a week since they have 52 videos up in 2004 and there's still about three weeks left).
Finally I found something new in the form of video quality. They now have a zip file download with a 640x480 1.1mbps Windows Media file that looks great! Full-screen is very doable and this bumps their quality up with the best of them. However, it's not without its problems. The zip file thing is a pain, especially since they only offer a full-video download (or interestingly the facial if you just want to see that) which obviously has to download fully before you can even begin to watch it. Second, download speeds are very slow at 35KB/sec. on our 5mbps connection. Even the facial video took a few minutes to download.
Overall, there's still a lot I'd like to see changed, but the new video quality (that is actuall retroactive a little bit) helps a lot. If you're looking for videos, it's worth a look although not quite as good as the big boys yet. A new design and improved navigation features (and more updates) would help them get closer.

Well, well, it's about time someone listened to me! They actually probably thought of it on their own and are ignoring me completely in reality, but the site has a new design up! With that comes some much better navigation options giving you multiple ways to browse the content. I'm not a big fan of the fading pages while browsing the photos, but actually finding stuff is much better. This along with their higher-end content definitely helps things here. They're also updating a bit more frequently now; between their exclusive content and the bonus stuff there's something new up most every day.
A really nice change here, bringing up the parts that were lacking and keeping what they did well. A pretty nice site overall that's definitely worth a look.
