I'm going to keep the name "Velvet Ecstasy" in the back of my mind in case I ever decide to open a strip club. That would make a kick-ass name. Well these guys have decided to put the name to work on the web with an amateur porn site. The content is both original and hardcore and I tell you it has been too long since I've had the chance to review a site like this. Very few sites actually have collections of exclusive hardcore amateur videos, but Velvet Ecstasy does.
These guys have been producing this stuff since 1999 and the site has the archives to prove it. As far as design and navigation this is really a simple little site. Everything is organized by year and there's a simple preview pic, title, summary, and list of who stars for each video. Other than that there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the organization. All the stuff is best described as straight hardcore sex (some vary w/ solo girls & groups). No time is wasted on introductions or filler crap, it's just sex of made up mostly of straight hardcore, bjs, and facials. Most of the models are pretty decent looking although it's not the pornstar chicks you may be used to. A big part of the amateur nature of this site is that most of the performers look like the kinds of chicks you could pick up at your local bar, strip club, or college.
Each content gallery (of which there are 143+) consists of pictures, video screen captures, and videos. The pictures can be viewed in regular and large sizes and the large ones are nice quality. Certainly they are good enough for a video-based site, many of which offer very poor pictures. The videos are where the action is at. They're Windows Media files and each movie is broken down into 3 or 4 clips. These can be either streamed in-browser or downloaded. The only drawback is the video quality. There just not overly sharp and there's a good amount of graininess. That's really holding back the content collection from being all it could be.
These guys have got lots of additional 3rd party content in their "Friends" and "Extras" sections. It's a whole lot of galleries and some videos from other sites like Ron Harris, Little Mutt, and a whole bunch of amateur girls. It all seems to fit well with their overall site concept and it's nice to see a site that doesn't rely on the same hardcore feeds other paysites use for extras. Membership is reasonable at $19.95/mo and there's only one way they try to squeeze you for more cash and that is their store where you can purchase VHS vids for $34.95 a pop. The link isn't intrusive though, so it's not hurting my overall review score.

There are a couple changes to Velvet Ecstasy worth noting. First off, they've addressed the video quality issue, I complained about that in my original review. Videos from mid 2002 thru the present are now available as zipped 640x480 / 1096k WMV files in addition to the lesser quality streaming and downloadable clips they already had. That means roughly 1/3 of the site's movies are available in high quality. The zip file is for the full movie but they also do something that I haven't seen before, a second zip file is offered for just the facial (the last 1 or 2 minutes of the scene). That's pretty clever; if you just want to watch cumshots then you can download them in high quality without having to grab the whole movie file.
The second change is the new trial option, $7.95 for 3-days (recurring at $24.95/mo). It's funny; this is one of those sites that really doesn't need a trial. The $19.95/mo base charge is totally reasonable, especially now that you can download those high quality clips. With over 200 scenes it's a very impressive collection of original hardcore movies. With that much content, it's about time they add some categorization and browsing features instead of just leaving them in chronological order.

Velvet Ecstasy has a new design and the member’s area looks nice. The best part is the categorization they've done to their exclusive content. "Exclusives" is divided into Category (i.e. niche), Year, or Title (alphabetically). Since the content continues to expand it's great to see they've added more organization features. Other than that, the movies remain a fun collection of amateur flicks that any movie fan should enjoy. There's also a notice that they've increased the updates frequency. Basically Velvet Ecstasy keeps evolving into a better and better site every time we give it a review and that's exactly what I like to see.
Score increased from 79.8 to 82.0.
