If you're one that doesn't like commitment - and let's face it, who does - then a VOD site might just be your thing. They're known for being expensive, however, much more expensive. Sugar VOD is a Pay Per View site that offers a huge collection of adult DVD porno (4,000+), from all the top-name studios and popular niche categories. They do have a few unique niche offerings like balloons, fire crotch, midgets, etc., but overall this is your standard Video On Demand type of site. Pay Per Minute prices start at $2.65 for 11 minutes and go all the way up to $78.95 for 1000 minutes. That's a range of $.24 cents per minute to $.08 cents per minute, so average viewers might want to stick to something more in between like 205 minutes for $19.95 (about $.10 cents per minute). I always love watching hardcore porno, so let's hope the quality is good and get inside!
The Good:
- A large archive of PPV ready content to rely on. More than 4,000+ DVD titles gives users not only a large selection, but also a nice variety of content and even a few unique themes like midgets, tranny, muscles, pregnant, and more. Also, it looks like 584+ DVD titles can be purchased as a DivX download for $14.95, although access to the DVD is only given for one month.
- Multiple updates, almost daily. Sugar VOD might skip a day here and there, but as many as 10 titles are added at a time, and often.
- An advanced search feature makes finding specifics easy. Not only will you find your normal search features like category, studio and performer, but Sugar VOD also conveniently offers a more dynamic search feature that allows members to browse by DVD information (some or all), category (multiple), ratings, reviews and more. This is the kind of feature that sets DVD sites apart from the rest.
- A couple different quality options for videos. The highest quality stream is between 1000k and look pretty good overall, but nothing great.
- Many different minute/pricing options to choose from. That way users aren't forced into buying more minute than desired, as there should be an option for every budget.
The Bad:
- PPV gets expensive! And even when you do purchase the DivX option (which isn't even always available), it only gives you access to the DVD title for 1 month. You really never do own anything for you money here.
- Quality is average to below, especially compared to many of the top DVD sites. Its one thing to offer DVD content at a Pay Per View status, but it's another to offer it in super high res video formats! For the price you pay per minute, I would want to see some stream at least as high as 3000k!
- I had some issues getting videos to stream/load. It may just be Windows Vista, or maybe I'm not up to date on my WMV upgrades. Whatever it is, I wasn't always able to view the PPV streams. This didn't take any minutes away from my account, though.
The Conclusion:
We've seen such an array of DVD sites that I have to admit I'm not always jumping with excitement for a new one, especially when they're PPV. That's not to say that there isn't a definite place for VOD sites, however. Of course there is! And Sugar VOD gives plenty of PPM package options that should fit any budget. Just remember how quickly it can all add up! What did excite me about this site oddly enough, was the presence of an advanced download feature - I love it! If Sugar VOD added even higher quality streams to their video viewing options I think I could really get behind it as an option for users looking to download just a few specific titles for a one-time thrill. The quality wasn't bad, but it was great either. Overall SugarVOD.com will probably end up scoring average for a video site.
