Strictly Broadband is a pay-per-view video streaming site that has a couple interesting quirks that make it a bit different from many of the other VOD sites. The pricing structure is actually a rental system based on "Tickets" where one ticket gives access to a movie for 7 days and two gives access for a year. So this is really more of an online rental system and not so much a pay-per-minute thing. Also, the pricing structure is in British Pounds since this is a London based company.
The Goods:
- Decent Sized Collection of Movies. Strictly Broadband's total number of title is into the thousands. As a raw number it is a large collection of movies. Also the studio list shows they get the films from a whole host of sources. That being said as far as PPV sites go Strictly Broadband is on the mid-lower end as far as quantity goes. They have more movies than most standard membership paysite movie download sites go but not nearly as many as the leading VOD sites.
- Easy Video Viewing, Quick Buffering. The video formatting and viewing is very simple. The "My Account" screen shows how many tickets you have available and there are play buttons on every individual movie page for renting that particular movie. The films are broken down into clips for quicker access to the different scenes within the movie. The movies buffered nicely for me and as a non-techie I found it easy to rent and watch the movies easily.
The Bads:
- Average Video Quality, Few Options. The video quality is about as average as can be. Aside from the clip and separate sections for iPod and Sony PSP files there aren't really any options available. Considering these are streaming rentals and it’s pretty pricey per movie I expected somewhat sharper movies.
- Limited Navigation Tools, Rough Design. The overall design of the site is unpolished. The niche categories down the left margin have main and sub-categories which I found made things more complicated than it needed to be. Just a basic list of the sub-niches alphabetically would probably be easier. The list of porn actresses seems incomplete and there are no pictures for the girls, just text. Also, while the individual movie pages list the performers the names aren't clickable which means it's not possible to quick-jump to other performances by a model.
- No Update Specifics Provided. Update details are nowhere to be found. There is a "Latest Porn Movies" section although it’s simply numbered showing the last 20 additions. A site of this kind should be updating every day with a clear date specifics.
Conclusion:
Strictly Broadband is one of those sites where guests can browse the entire collection before buying anything. A few minutes of bumping around the site will let you know if they have the titles and set-up you're looking for. They have a decent foundation with the thousands of movies although with the rental prices as they are I wish they'd give the design a more professional appearance and bump up the video quality.
