Sex Search is up for review today, and it's a dating site boasting over a million members to date. Their tour looks like a tour from most any other similar site out there, and doesn't give you a ton of info on the site itself. There are a few different membership options as expected which start at $30 a month and go up. It seems a bit expensive to me honestly, but I'm not very in tune with what similar sites are charging these days.
The goods:
- Large site of course. With over a million listings here, no doubt it's a large site. I'd say it comes at a price of not really being 100% authentic here, but they have the numbers if that's what you're looking for.
- Some bonus stuff to check out. Depending on your membership level of course, they have some extras to check out if you like. These can range from some XXX content, to a chat, advice section, and more.
The bads:
- Not much actual content it seems. It's really hard to differentiate between what's real here, and what's not. There are lots of ads, so there are bound to be both types, but it'd be frustrating for me if I was actually looking for something real.
- Lots of fake ads. Some of the pictures I see are just so clearly fake it's not cool. Pictures of famous web amateurs are up, a few requests for URL's are needed, etc.
- IM popups are annoying. You can turn them off, but until you do, it can get a little annoying. The way they setup their instant message system is for you to get a popup web page with it open. I think I'd rather have some kind of notification bar at the top of the page or something. I'm sure it's not nearly as much of a problem for guys as it is for couples or girls though.
- Expensive. $30 a month minimum just seems like a lot to spend for something like this. If there were some good hope for meeting some people, that'd be fine. But I feel like this is more for something fun to do online than to really meet people, so it's a tough one.
Conclusion:
I'd say Sex Search is exactly what I expect from a dating site out there. They're just too difficult to use in real life, and so I don't quite get the appeal. There's lots of ads, extras, extra links, and just random clutter in the way. I can't imagine too many real single girls are here waiting for us dorky guys, so it's just a mixed bag for me.
