Adult Personals sites are different types of paysites altogether. As with most of them Sex Search's guest tour is setup to always direct surfers to enter a search and in the process create a user name and profile. In order to get any sort of read on how the site works you have to create a basic account. From there you have the silver and gold memberships which provide the necessary services to use all the features that they offer.
The Goods:
- Straightforward Profile/Search Features. The account information, profile setup/options, and personal search tools are easy to figure out and simple enough to use. Depending on your membership level the features included things like messages, who has viewed me, showed interest, and hotlist. The browsing allows you to see who is online now and an advanced search gives options for personal info, location, and sex encounter interests.
- Tons of Profiles & Members. The sheer number of profiles and members is strength. The number of active members in the millions based on what the site states. All types seem to be represented and in addition to the actual profiles the gold membership includes bonus porn content.
The Bads:
- Lots of Ads & Upsells. No opportunity is passed up to sell products and services to those who sign up here. In additional to their own membership level upsells you have cam show chat, sex toys, DVDs, and more. Ads are everywhere here and it's clear that the additional products, services, and websites are as much of a purpose of Sex Search as are the actual personals.
- Many Fake/Filler Profiles. This is a staple of these types of adult/erotic personal websites. It's just something that is always going to be part of the system. It's similar to job website listings where many of the listings aren't for actual jobs but are put there by employment services. Basically you just gotta go with the flow and get a laugh out of some of the pics and profiles put here by supposedly "hot and horny" chicks.
- Constant IM Pop-Up Windows. Members can contact each other by initiating an on-site instant message and as I was reviewing the site I got them constantly appearing. It wasn't my most favorite thing about their system.
Conclusion:
Sex Search is pretty much what I expected it to be. They do have a large raw number of profiles though it's not the most user-friendly personals paysite because they are so heavily focused on selling additional products and services. Aside from the large collection of members there isn't any sort of hook or features that makes Sex Search's personals stand out from competing services.
