Rugger Bugger's is a site in the gay niche with a focus on sportsmen. I suppose it would also be fair to point out that there’s a European emphasis as well since a lot of the content features soccer and rugby players. My thought is that in a broad niche lie the gay category it's helpful to offer something different and Rugger Bugger's main trait is the sports concept.
The Goods:
- Specialty Sports Guy Content. The member's area has a real mixed bag of stuff including content of guys on the field of play, in the locker room, at photo shoots, advertisements, and a host of other sources. They seem to throw in anything under the sun that fits the overall sports guy theme. Nude, semi-nude, and non-nude are all included.
- Pretty Good Quality Videos. The quality of these WMV files is pretty decent which caught me off guard a bit since the picture quality is so varied. The movies average 1-2 minute in length each and like the picture galleries the type of content varies from video to video.
The Bads:
- Avg to Poor Quality Pictures. Picture quality is a definite weakness. This stems from the fact that this stuff is compiled from all sorts of sources with a lot of video screen captures from sports broadcasts. Along with the overall lack of quality the inconsistency is an issue as well.
- Unimpressive Design/Navigation. The organization is completely basic with the galleries simply numbered and organized chronologically. There is a simple alphabetical name list as well. Even if they aren't going to polish this up it'd still help to have a separate section for the videos which isn't currently the case. The vids are simply mixed in among the numbered galleries and highlighted in red.
Conclusion:
Rugger Bugger does stick within their sports theme but beyond that the content collection is a real mishmash of stuff in terms of sources and quality. There's even a bit of a voyeur/celebrity site feel to it. Although it takes quite a bit of scrolling the guest tour samples are indicative of what kind of stuff is available to members so it's probably worth a minute to browse through those.
