Intro

Raw Films is a hardcore gay site with a collection of downloadable video scenes along with about an equal number of photo galleries too. The company also operates the Homoactive.tv DVD site that has pay-per-view pricing and streaming only movies. That is their larger flagship destination however Raw Films is a more straightforward monthly membership site with the downloadable videos and galleries. Something else in play is that this is a Netherlands based company with German models so the Euro niche is in play for fans of that genre. Guests can get a pretty nice sampling of the content from the movie previews on the tour which'll show you the type of action and guys that can be found in the collection.

The Pros

Hardcore German Guy/Guy & Groupsex Vids, Solo Guy Photos.

The action in the videos is all hardcore with a lot of one-on-one guy/guy along with threesomes and group scenes as well. The fact that German content is featured does help make this stuff fairly distinctive and those who enjoy Euro models should find this interesting. The photo galleries offer a nice contrast as they feature solo softcore sets of men stripping and posing.

Full-Scene WMV/QT Files, Flash Streaming, Custom Gallery Zips.

Content viewing/downloading options are solid and consistent throughout the sites. One of the benefits of them having launched only back in '09 is that there aren't any old or out of date content items. The videos are in full-scene WMV and QT downloads plus they have in-browser streaming that buffers quickly and allows for immediate jumping ahead. Picture galleries can be viewed online or saved in custom zip files with the ability to select images individually and then save the group.

Sharp Looking Design, Model Index & Content Filter Tools.

Site layout and design is professional looking and there isn't clutter or junk for distraction. Clear video and picture gallery sections have content listed chronologically with further niche filtering tools. The models page is another way to browse by model so it's nice that they have that in place as well.

Other Good Stuff:

Updates are steady for both the video scenes and galleries. All content items are date-stamped with info showing when they were added to the site.
Clear file size information is posted for each movie.

The Cons

Average Video/Picture Quality & Download Speeds.

Raw Films hasn't done anything special in terms of the video quality. The WMV is the higher of the two movie formats with specs around 1600k 850x480. They look okay but could certainly be sharper. The photos are crisp but not overly large. The larger of the picture options has 800x600 sized images and then there is a level smaller than that. Download speeds were pretty standard for what I'm used to seeing for paysites at around 550-600KB/sec. My download manager (software: IDM) worked but not much faster than standard downloads as it only got 1-channel capability here.

Not an Overly Large Collection, Site is Still Fairly Young.

There are over one hundred video scenes and roughly the same number of photo galleries in place. They've been updating steadily however with a launch date back in 2009 the site hasn't yet established a large archive. Continued growth will help add value to the collection so long as they keep on going with the updates.

Minor Negatives:

The custom gallery zip tool doesn't have a 'select all' or 'complete set' option. For full galleries you must go thru and click all the images.
There may be some regional pricing going on for those who join in Europe. The rate in Euros would make the membership more expensive with the exchange rate.

The other

Because this is a Netherlands/German site the dialogue is in German however there are subtitles.

Bottom Line

Raw Films is a cleanly designed site with German guys in hardcore videos & softcore photos.

Overall Raw Films is straightforward and they have all the basics in place on both the content options and design fronts. The focus on German content is definitely what stands out most. While they could use higher content quality and continued growth it's a pretty good quality site already.
