PROS:

1. Classic porn movie niche.

BOTTOM LINE:

"A pretty solid collection of classic movies from the 1970's and 80's."

Pornstar Classics houses movies from the 1970s and 80s. There's definitely a strong audience out there for movies from this era since TBP gets emails from fans looking for this stuff on a regular basis. As you might expect heavy makeup, hairspray hair, and incredibly cheesy storylines are on full display throughout the movies here.

The Goods:

- Classic Porn Movie Niche. The way the site is designed it's possible for guests to fully explore the site's collection. You can browse around by star name or through the movies to see if they have the titles you're interested in. I'm not really into the classics but I found it quite fun to browse through the videos and see what porn used to be like.

- Featured Star List & Movie Count. The star list down the left margin of the site is very handy for locating scenes with specific performers. The movie count on the right margin is a small item but it really caught my eye. I love it when sites are up front with guests and members both about how much content is available.

- Custom Clip Downloads. Movies are broken into segments so that members can create custom download clips. This is user-friendly downloading that allows member's to decide if they want the whole scene or just a small part. Movie quality is pretty good especially considering the age of the titles.

The Bads:

- Not a Huge Database of Movies. At the time of this review (Feb '07) there are 165 titles in the collection. I can't even imagine how many movies were made during the 70's and 80's so there's a huge library for them to draw on. With a site like this the bigger it is the better it'll be. I'd like to see hundreds and hundreds of movies available.

- Somewhat Sluggish Update Pace. Updates are kind of consistent at one new movie per week which is slow for a movie site. Things are inconsistent in that sometimes they'll add a bunch of movies on a given day but that's balanced by occasional periods of 10+ days between additions.

- Could Use Addt'l Browse Features. The star list and keyword search work fine but what's missing are niche and year categories. A yearly breakdown or something similar would really be an effective browsing tool since I'm sure many members want to see films from specific periods.

Conclusion:

There's nothing hidden or mysterious about Pornstar Classics, they lay out exactly what the site is on the tour pages. Take a look around and you should be able to decide for yourself if the site is of interest to you. When we get back for a follow-up review the one thing that I'll certainly be checking on are the consistency of updates along with overall growth.
