Playboy has come out with a few new sites in the last year or so to add to their collection. Today we're reviewing one of them, called Playboy's Fresh Faces, that obviously focuses on unseen girls by my guess. While some of these sub-sites may be similar to each other, it's nice to have the extra content around. The sites are generally simple to navigate, offer good content, and update regularly. Plus, it's just $20 to get inside, which gets you access to all of their sites.
The goods:
- Exclusive content of course. Playboy doesn't exactly buy content from the local pimp who photographs his girls. All this stuff is contracted just for them from the top content shooters in the world.
- Updates come (mostly) regularly. It seems every 5 or 10 days something new is added. I wish it was a little more regular, but the site is still growing at least.
- Nice network included. The other sub-sites are pretty similar in nature, with slightly different niches of course. But the big daddy is the main Playboy Plus site which offers tons of content and updates.
The bads:
- Quality could be even better (especially pics). The pictures actually disappointed me only because they were small compared to what I was expecting. 900x600 or so is just barely average, and a site coming from Playboy should offer much better than that in my opinion. The videos looked decent, but again, can't Playboy step up the bar a bit and get some high-definition content flowing here? They're the kings of quality, but that just isn't the case here yet I guess.
- Could use more content. It's not tiny, but it's not a large site on its own yet either. Getting those updates flowing and the site growing will only help them long term.
- More viewing options would help. I was surprised at the lack of choices here. Videos only came in one WMV file, and pictures only came in one option as well. Add another video type or two to start (let alone maybe some quality choices), then pictures need at least one other size to choose from, and possibly zip files.
Conclusion:
Playboy's Fresh Faces is an okay addition to the network. I don't know if I'd join just for this site in particular, but it offers some decent content here for now. It's a little simple for my liking overall, and I'd love to see more options, more quality, and more info all around. Of course I expect more from a company like Playboy, so I may be a little harsher here. It's a good site, and you won't be disappointed, I just think they could add a little more.
