The straight men theme is a pretty popular sub-niche within the gay category and here we have a site that throws in an additional wrinkle with the New York theme. The "free preview" page is laid out exactly as the member's area is so that shows guests what they have to offer.
The Goods:
- Exclusive Collection w/ Lots of Hardcore. You know the guys here really do look like New Yorkers so the theme seems to work well here. The photo and video shoots are mostly guy/guy hardcore with a sprinkling of solo performances and group action too. The exclusivity and amateur style of the shoots are positives too.
- Pretty Nice Video Quality. The video quality is in the mid-high range which works just fine for the site. The download and stream at a reasonable pace which makes for easy viewing.
The Bads:
- No Video Download Options. The movies are in a single format and only full-movie files. Offering a second format would probably be the best way to give users some choice for how they view the videos. I'm glad they've gone with WMV as the single format but choice is something that would help here.
- Design/Navigation Could Be Improved. The overall design/graphics could be spruced up since it's a bit plain. All the content is laid out on one single page and there are no navigation aids or categorization. The shoots have solo, guy/guy, bjs, and groupsex so it they should have some way to search out specific types of shoots. This will definitely apply if the site continues to grow and gets significantly larger.
Conclusion:
The monthly price here is mid-range and the updates seem pretty consistent at once every five days. Basically these guys do a fine job producing their own content but don't have a flashy site by any means. They already have a good sized collection of content so it'll be interesting to see what the site is like down the road when we come back for a follow-up review.

Just about a year has passed between the time of our initial look at NY Straight Men and this follow-up review. Updates have continued at the rate of one every five days bringing the total number of movies to over a couple hundred. That's a pretty sizable amount for a hardcore video site of this kind. The one notable improvement is in the video formatting arena. For new additions they have added QT format to accompany the WMV files. Taking a look at the design I see the same issues apply in terms of a lack of categorization. With hundreds of movie they need to step up the organization. So the exclusive content is the star here and the navigation is the main thing I take issue with.
Score increased from 76.5 to 78.0.

This is now TBP's third look at New York Straight Men and they've pretty much held steady since our initial review. The overarching concept is still a mix of exclusive solo guy and hardcore shoots with video episodes accompanied by a photo set. The updates and growth have continued with a short log of recent additions although the actual episode pages don't have specific date added info posted. The best feature of the site remains the sizable collection of exclusive solo guy and guy/guy shoots with the New York and straight guy angles emphasized. The design remains a sticking point for me with the continued lack of category browsing. All told it's a strong site though because there's no doubting the fun and original content collection that they've compiled. While no drastic changes have been made the steady growth has made the site better and better over time.
Score increased from 78.0 to 80.0.
