Mystique Magazine is a company that's been in business since 1998. The site fits into the whole glamour photography mold with top notch sexy babes in professional style shoots. There is a pretty informative "About Us" page that details some specifics on the company including that they put out coffee tables and DVDs featuring their work. Basically while they don't have the history of a name like Playboy there is more depth to what Mystique does with their content than this site alone.
The Goods:
- Original Glamour Pic & Vid Collection. The shoots are definitely the heart and soul of Mystique. The shoots have all the components I like to see from a glamour photography site with dynamite chicks in creative and exotic locations. There is style and themes to the shoots like you expect from a professional.
- Hi-Res Pics, Good Options & Zips. The pictures are high resolution with multiple quality levels offered for viewing. They range from standard for quick viewing to huge 3000k which requires browser scrolling just to see the whole picture. Zip files are available too. High-res pics, multiple pic sizes, and zips are the features I like to see from photography sites
- Balanced Site, Lots of Pics & Vids. For a photography site Mystique has a very nice amount of videos totaling well into the hundreds. Basically every model I went to had a mix of galleries and videos which gave the collection a very well-rounded feel.
- Sharp Design & Lots of Model Info. The appearance of the site fits well with the content. The main navigation tool is an alphabetical model index that has physical characteristic filters. The individual model pages showcase all the shoots, lots of model specs, and even audio files of the models.
The Bads:
- Monthly & Credit PPV Membership. We're dealing with porn and erotica here. The monthly membership plus credit system on the join page gave me a headache. It was the same pain I felt when I had to review and sign my mortgage documents. The monthly charge gives from some models and then the credits are for accessing other parts of the collection. It's too complicated for me and I'm sure many surfers have wished for a flat rate for everything on the site.
- Download Vid Files are Zipped. The best part of the videos is the amount of format choices offered. They include WMV, DivX, QT, Real, and Flash. The negative is that the downloadable files are all zipped. Zips are better served in the picture realm than on videos.
- Some Print/DVD Upsells. These items aren't gaudy or in-your-face although considering the monthly plus credits membership it's weak for them to push for more money. The DVD and print selling is a product of the fact that the company does produce other items that just this site. Therefore they take the opportunity to sell their other stuff.
Conclusion:
Mystique Magazine delivers in terms of the site set-up and photography content. What they have is on par with other top level glamour sites and considering this company's history I have no doubt they'll continue to grow the collection. It's definitely the credit style membership set-up that is the biggest negative. Anything that requires that long of an explanation on the join page turns me off.
