My Cams is a straightforward pay-per-minute live webcam site. As a guest you can browse the site exactly as members see it including the free cam streams. Basically a few minutes of surfing this site and it's possible to see what how the site works and what girls are registered and online.
The Goods:
- 1k+ Girls Online at a Time. Sites in the webcam niche really do vary greatly in the number of girls online. My Cams is pretty strong in this area with about 1,000 to 1,500 performers online at any given time. The total size of the site is 50k performers.
- Simple Cam Interface & Pricing. I'm no techie so when it comes to cam show viewing I like systems that make things simple to use. That's the case here with the cam window and chat room set up in a user-friendly format. The $1.99/min pricing ($0.99/min for recorded vids) seems steady across the site. That's a decent price for cam shows like this and I like the fixed price since many competing cam sites allow different prices for different performers.
- Decent Niche Breakdown/Categories. The majority of the performers fall into the solo girl genre although there are also lesbians, mature, fetish, couples, and some other niches as well. A categorized menu allows for browsing by niche and sub-niche. A keyword search is offered too. They have the basics in place for pretty good browsing.
The Bads:
- Fairly Standard Live Show Website. While there is a respectable collection of shows available My Cams isn't really offering a hook that would separate itself from other cam show sites. For instance the video quality of the cams is okay without any high-res options or anything like that. The site just falls in with many other cam show sites that are out there vying for your business.
- Some Small Niche Sections. With 1k+ performers online I found some of the niche sections to be smaller than expected. The Fetish section stood out since the sub-categories were more niche-like than fetish (hair color, ethnicities, etc). I thought it should be more broken down by the actual fetish specialty.
- Pay-Per-View Can be Expensive. This is the nature of the beast. No matter the rate live show sites that charge by the minute can get pricey in a hurry. The live show niche is something that's usually offered in this price structure.
Conclusion:
For cam show sites like My Cams it's better for me as a reviewer to lay out some of the nuts-and-bolts as I've done in my "Good" and "Bad" list. As far as entertainment value goes that's going to vary based on the performer selected and what you're looking for. As with any cam site it's going to be a real mixed bag.
