PROS:

"A sizable movie download site with a functional design & high video quality."
Just like the titles implies Movie Room is a movie niche site. They offer up thousands of scenes from hundreds of DVD titles and they're all downloadable. The guest tour setup is straightforward and informative since non-members can browse the collection in exactly the same way as members see it. A few minutes of browsing around will let you know whether they have the titles or stars you're interested in.

The Goods:

- Lots of Downloadable DVDs/Scenes. The site has a sizable collection of full DVD titles. The videos are broken down into over 50 niche categories and like most movie sites the content is geared towards a general hardcore audience. Browsing by DVD allows for studio info and they seem to have titles from some popular companies that I recognize and you probably will too.

- Clean Design, Useful Browse Tools. Although it's not a flashy design the overall appearance of the site is uncluttered and clean. Tools include the niche categories, member ratings, a 'pornstar explorer' search filter, and a performer model index.

- High Vid Quality w/ Some Options. WMV is the main format with a few quality levels for downloading full scenes. iPod and PSP are also offered as is a nice in-browser streaming feature. The highest WMV level vids are indeed nice quality movies.

- One New Full DVD Daily. The update pace is steady and it seems like a bit more than just one movie since they mostly list content by 'scenes' instead of DVDs. The movies are all date stamped so it's clear that they are consistent in adding new stuff.

The Bads:

- Download Speed is a Bit Sluggish. While video quality is a strength the downloading speed is somewhat slower than I'm used to. The file size for the highest quality usually fall in the 150-250Mb range so they're not enormous files.

- Some Missing Navigation Tools. With the amount of content and varying niches there are a few tools that should be added. A keyword or advanced search box would be helpful as would a more prominent studio browsing function. Also, the pornstar index is missing quite a large number of thumbnail preview pics for many girls.

- Non-Exclusive Content. This is simply the nature of the content for DVD movie sites of this kind. Still, it's worth mentioning since exclusivity is an important characteristic that many surfers look for.

Conclusion:

Price is one aspect of Movie Room that I didn't include among my 'Good' or 'Bad' points. At $29.95/mo the monthly rate is on the mid-high end of paysites and higher than some of the other competitors in this niche. Overall though Movie Room does have the fundamentals I look for from a movie download site with lots of content, high quality videos, and a clean design.
