The Cons
Exclusive & HD Scenes are PPV.
On top of the monthly recurring price users must pay more, PPV in fact, in order to see any of the exclusive scenes plus the scenes being offered with HD downloads. I understand the idea of wanting to charge more for these types of content, but the expensive PPV model is a bit of a put off especially for those already spending close to $20 bucks per month for the content. It seems like much of the new content being added lately falls into these 2 premium categories as well.
Mostly Non-Exclusive DVD Content.
That's the nature of a DVD archive site like this. Nearly all of the content here can be found elsewhere. These are DVDs that you can find on other sites or by ordering the actual DVD yourself.
Quality Could be Better.
For the scenes that aren't Premium HD, basically the scenes you're paying for with your monthly membership, these scenes offer bitrate speeds around 1300k and are quickly falling below average in terms of quality compared to other DVD sites out there these days.
Minor Negatives:
HD & Exclusive scenes are PPV rentals, which means that they're also not yours to keep once downloaded.
While they do a good job at giving users the option for browsing the basics including multiple filters, they don't have any kind of advanced search setup offering the for the ability to combine categories, models, attributes, and studios all into one big search with as many selections as you can think of at once.
Beware of the trial which gives limited access to the content and recurs at a higher $24.95 per month.
Bottom Line
A large archive of DVD's but the HD & exclusive scenes are an additional cost.
There is a lot to love about Movie Box, like the large database of DVD's, the large daily updates, the reduced pricing and the clean site design. But there are also a lot of annoyances as well. My biggest annoyance is having to pay more on a PPV basis in order to gain access to HD & exclusive DVD rentals; this can add up quick and is on top of your monthly membership fee. At the very least I'd like to see them bumping up the quality of the standard scenes that you gain access to with your membership. This is still a well-done DVD site that can compete with what's out there, but the above mentioned annoyances are holding it back for me.
