With a title like Movable Porn I figured the site was either a portable porn site or perhaps some crazy new style of interactive porn system. As it turns out it’s the former as this is a video site that specializes in having its movies in all the different formats for portable devices. The guest tour samples do show many of the movies included in the collection.
The Goods:
- Videos in Several Portable Formats. This is the key item that they're selling. The formats include PC (WMV), PSP, iPhone/iPod, Zune, and Phone/Mobile. The choices seem to be consistent for all the movies. I didn't notice any that altered from these options. The PC files buffered and downloaded quickly when I sampled them.
- Some Movie Categorization. The videos are browsable in several niche categories including Straight (i.e. boy/girl hardcore), Lesbian, Solo, Asian, and Ebony. They also have a section for the newest movies and a page to list all the movies on the site. Considering this isn't a large collection it's good that they took time to do some breakdown and organization.
- Update/Release Date Posted. The information they post on the individual movie pages is fairly sparse although it does include the release/update date. Along with that they have the model name, shoot title, and a one-line description.
The Bads:
- Small Collection of Movies/Niches. This is really the most glaring negative on the site. Some of the movie categories/niches only have one or two videos available. Most of the content is bunched into the straight and lesbian sections. It's a glaring weakness largely because their tagline is "The #1 Source for Portable Porn". The size of the site doesn't bear that out.
- Clips Only, # Varies Per Movie. Even though they do have the five video format choices the options drop off after that. They don't have full-movie files nor do they have different quality level choices. Sites that make video downloads as their main selling point should have more features than Movable Porn has.
- Fairly Avg/Slow Update Pace. This goes hand-in-hand with the overall size of the site. They add one new movie scene per week on average. My expectations for a site like this would be at least three updates per week. At the pace they're going the collection will take a long time to grow into a big site.
Conclusion:
Movable Porn has satisfied the criteria of providing a collection of movies in several portable device formats as is their stated mission. What they haven't done is gone beyond the basics to add value in terms of building up a large database, having video quality options, or anything else that really stands out. All-in-all my assessment is that it's a mediocre site with some areas where it can improve.
