MET-ART is one of the most well-known nude photography sites in the world. They've been doing their thing since 1999 and have a huge following. It's not a one-photographer site, rather they pick and choose from some of the best nude photographers in the world for who to showcase on their site. Their stats are quite impressive with over 383,000 photos, and 381 movies currently. Their free area looks decent and they list off all the accolades they've received from review sites, magazines, and more. To get inside, a $30 monthly membership is required which is a bit high of course, but expected for all that they offer. If you're a huge fan, you can drop that price significantly by joining for a year at just under $100.
The goods:
- Huge collection. They're approaching the 400,000 photo mark here, with their current count at 383,000. Considering these are all exclusive photos shot just for MET alone, that's a very impressive collection of material here. The videos are in the 360 count range, which isn't quite as impressive, but you have to remember that this is a photography site first.
- Great content all around. There's no arguing everything looks spectacular here. Even the videos look great as they come in high-definition format at times. Photos are taken by world-class photographers and are executed flawlessly. The models look great, the locations are great, and the quality is great as well. If you're at all into this type of content, I'm sure you've already been a member here.
- Large daily updates. For the entire month of January, they've put up four new sets each and every day on the site (except for the 1st of the month, there six new sets went up instead). The video schedule is a little more random, with updates sometimes coming anywhere from daily to less than weekly.
- High-definition video available! I love when sites embrace new technologies, and the addition of some high-definition videos here fits the bill quite nicely. They're all about quality at MET, so why not extend that to the video portion of the site as well?
- Nice download options. Pictures come in two sizes, and zip files of course. Videos come in six different format options, ranging from WMV, DivX, the new Quicktime, and MPG to iPod and PSP files. I think they've got you covered here, unless you don't have a broadband connection as they are all full-scene downloads.
The bads:
- Member's area design could be a bit better. I remember this from last time I was here as well. It's a simple, generally clean design, but it doesn't look like a lot of effort went into it. Things like the addition of banners/ads on the member's splash page detract from the site as well. The few graphics that are up look a lot nicer than they used to, so that's not the problem, I just wouldn't mind seeing a few more graphics around (not a ton) to spruce things up a bit.
- No simple model's index? You can view the top-rated models pretty easily, as well as the non-rated models. You can also find a list of all the models in the search engine. However, there's no place to go see all the models on the site listed in one place with a small face shot thumbnail to help you find your perfect dream girl. It seems like a weird omission on a site like this that I may be missing.
- No model info/bios. This one may be due to the fact that so many different photographers participate here, so the site owners don't have interaction with a lot of the models themselves I'd assume. Still, it would be awesome to have a short questionnaire given out to each model to fill out to get at least a little basic info on who they are, what they're about, etc.
Conclusion:
What more is there to say? The list of cons here are pretty nit-picky and really won't detract from your overall experience at all. If they had them, they'd be that much better even, but they're such minor issues that you can't really complain. MET-ART offers just so much content, all of it pretty spectacular for the field they're in. You get a ton, they update a ton, the quality is awesome, the girls are awesome, and while $30 is a bit more than I usually want to spend, I can say it's pretty much worth it here for all they offer.
