The MILF and mature niches are pretty popular in the normal porn world, but I hadn't really seen much in the genre for gay sites. Enter Men Over 30, which should fill that niche pretty well. They offer up exclusive content of solo and gay scenes all featuring slightly older men than usual. $30 is what it takes to get in the door, which is about what you'd expect for a site like this.
The goods:
- Exclusive gay content. As with most any gay site offering exclusive content, it's one of the main draws here for sure. The gay niche isn't exactly hurting for new content, but it's always nice to see material that hasn't been seen before. Add in a small little niche like the age thing here, and you've got yourself a recipe for success in my book.
- Decent-sized site. Anytime you hit that 100 scene mark, I feel like a site is doing okay. Men Over 30 currently boasts well over 150, up to 162 scenes currently. With the slight niche site they have here, that's a decent collection for sure.
The bads:
- Most videos are DRM protected. To view the better-looking videos (I wouldn't bother with the non-DRM dialup crap they have), you have to deal with DRM videos which pretty much blows. Most sites have given up on the DRM thing, but that's not the case here I guess. On top of that, the DRM server was pretty slow to respond at times, making me wait even longer to view the dang video.
- Updates aren't dated. I assume they update fairly regularly to get their numbers up where they are, but they don't let you know when that is. I believe they advertise weekly updates, but a little confirmation wouldn't hurt.
- Downloads weren't terribly fast. My download accelerator didn't work (only one download at a time allowed), so I was stuck around 1/3 of our normal speed, which wasn't too exciting at all. Videos took a little longer than hoped for, and were required to be fully downloaded before viewing. After that, you have a DRM'd video which completed the unfortunate experience.
Conclusion:
The content here is the reason to join, as it's unique, and there's a good amount of it. It's really too bad the video situation is what it is, with slower downloads and videos with DRM on them. It just took so long to actually view a single video once you added it all together that it became not as fun as it should have been. It definitely hurts the site a bit, and are my main sticking points for not fully recommending the site. If they could get rid of the DRM like most sites have, I think it'd be a decent place to check out considering what they offer.
