Men DVD Peak is a movie download site solely dedicated to the Gay Niche. It's from Top Bucks and is the sister site to the general hardcore DVD Peak website. As far as understanding what they have to offer Men DVD Peak is an open book in that guests can navigate the collection of movies exactly as members see it. The layout and search tools for guests are identical as they are for members. So what you see is what you get here which makes things easier for you the consumer.
The Goods:
- Sizable Amount of Gay DVDs, Many Niches. The total number of videos is in the hundreds and these are indeed full-movie DVDs with any number of scenes in each. With the Gay niche being the overriding theme they have a couple dozen sub-categories that cover just about every type of hardcore and solo content that you'd expect from a gay DVD collection. Both the studio and star lists are pretty lengthy which speaks to the amount and variety of content available to members.
- Full-Movie Files & Clips, Five Quality Levels. The viewing/downloading options are solid here with five quality levels of WMV files for streaming or downloading. Each has full-movie files and clips plus it's notable that the streaming files actually play in a stand-alone media player and not in-browser (this is a positive thing that's also not usual on sites like this). The top quality files labeled "HD" here are nice quality although not really what would be called high-definition.
- Straightforward Browsing, Decent Features. My opening discusses the open guest tour set-up which is something I like about the design. The tools in place are functional and fairly standard for what I expect with Star, Studio, and Niche browsing plus a keyword search. Each individual movie page has links to these items too for quick links to similar style content.
The Bads:
- Average Update Pace & Details. Generally speaking DVD download sites are sites that updates very quickly. It's not unusual to see multiple movies added every day on sites like this. Men DVD Peak adds a movie every 2-3 days so it's average among all paysites but on the slow side for their particular category of sites. Also, while the member's home page has an update log with dates plus a countdown ticker the individual movie pages don't have the date-added details posted.
- Expensive Monthly Price. The monthly price here is $39.95/mo and that is definitely near the highest end of cost among paysites. Movie download sites come in all sorts of pay levels and Men DVD Peak is one of the most pricey.
- Non-Exclusive Content. This is simply the nature of DVD download sites like this but still it's worth pointing this out in a review of this kind. The collection of movies here includes studios, performers, and titles that are available on other sites too.
Conclusion:
All told Men DVD Peak has the key components in place that a DVD download sites should have. They have fully downloadable movies from a mix of studios while covering a whole host of niches. There's room for improvement in terms of the updating which would allow the site to build an even larger database of titles plus the price will be an issue for some.
