PROS:

1. Original fantasy concept.

BOTTOM LINE:

"A good reality-like concept, but the episodes didn't meet my expectations."

I'm a bit of a sucker for creativity. Credit should be given to people who come up with a new idea instead of just copying what's already out there. That's especially true in the porn biz since so many porn sites don't care at all about providing interesting content. Mask TV's concept is to build each scene around a different fantasy.

As of 3/17/05 they've got 29 episodes. Since that isn’t a lot of content they're clearly relying on the concept to sell the site. While the idea does make the site distinctive, the resulting scenes aren't as compelling as they could be. For starters the video quality is only average, even the high quality WMV files aren't particularly sharp. They're watchable but the lack of a crystal clear picture makes the action less enjoyable. Also, the fantasy and reality play don't have any kind of an edge to them; there's not a lot of humor and they tend to play out like average amateur porn scenes except for the masks people are wearing.

The ladies that produce the shoots seem to be pretty cool. In addition to the actual fantasy sex scene episodes also have pre-interviews, post-interviews, director’s comments, producer’s comments, and behind-the-scenes footage. All this footage helps make the scenes more entertaining although it doesn't make up for the bland sex scenes. I wish the performers had the enthusiasm that the producers seem to have.

The member's area design confuses me a bit. I entered my password, but the left margin menu still has the "join us" button showing up. Also, clicking on "fantasies" to get back to the most recent episodes takes me to a page with only preview trailers. The site doesn't seem to have a clear distinction set up between the guest tour and the member’s area. This problem along with the other issues I've brought up make the $29.99/mo price seem high. Currently I think it's overpriced.
