Marketa 4 You looks like a glamour/artsy site, which I'm always a fan of if they're done well. On top of that, it's actually a solo site, so it's an interesting mix of worlds here. Her tour and member's area are nearly identical, so I'd head over and take a look to see if it fits your style. Right off the bat, I see the obligatory hot lady posing outdoors, magazine-style covers, and advertisements claiming 5000 pixel images and high-definition video. Stats are available too, and she currently boasts 193 photo sets and 25 videos. She updates weekly, so those numbers won't be growing terribly fast. You can join for $20 for the first month, but that recurs at $25 the next month. I'm not sure what's to stop you from canceling and re-joining at the lower rate exactly - the pricing doesn't really make sense to me.
The goods:
- Quality is great. You can't complain too much about pictures that are over 4000 pixels long, or videos that come in high-definition. I wouldn't say the quality is perfect, as some pictures show some flaws for sure, but they're better than most by far.
- Decent viewing options. Pictures come in three sizes, along with zip files in those three sizes as well. Videos come in either WMV or Quicktime format in a couple quality options, plus an iPod download as well.
- Updates do come. They're not daily like I hoped for, but they do come every 4-8 days or so on average from what I can tell. Hopefully they keep them coming as often as possible as they could use as much content as they can get here.
The bads:
- Needs some growth. It's not small, but it's really not that large of a site either. The video section is very small, while the photos are better, but still not great. Their competition is stiff out there, so the size of the site definitely hurts.
- No real interaction. For a solo site, they try to offer a few forms of interaction, but none are too exciting. The forum is awful to browse through, and she's not very active there, and the diary has had only two posts this year so far (neither were very personal, more work related).
- Downloads were a bit slow. Download accelerators don't work, and the downloads currently came in around 1/3 of our usual speed for me. It wasn't awful, but it's something to note for sure.
Conclusion:
Marketa 4 You is really an interesting mix of site types. At first glance, it looks like a lot of other photography sites out there with high-quality content in an artsy form. Once you see that it's a solo site of model Marketa Belonoha, it's a bit surprising to see that all the content is of one girl. It's not perfect, but the site is off to a decent start here. With some growth, and maybe some beefing up of some extras here, I think it could be a nice niche site.
