Often porn sites take on themes to give their site an identity and Kiwi Puff has decided to use kiwi fruit for this purpose. The whole site background is green and the logo is a halved kiwi. In fact this company has a handful of sites and each has a fruit concept of its own. Kiwi Puff's guest tour is an open book which I like to see. That is to say guests can browse the site just as members see it so you can know exactly what movies they have to offer before signing up.
The Goods:
- A Few Hundred DVDs, Niche Categories. Kiwi Puff has a hundreds of total movies available. Sometimes sites will refer to individual scenes as movies but that's not the case here each movie is a full porn DVD averaging 1 to 1.5 hours each. The niches covered represent the popular ones and the content is geared towards a general hardcore audience.
- Inexpensive Membership Price. The $9.95/mo monthly price is clearly about as low as paysite get. Clearly that's one of their key selling points that helps them to stand out from the crowd. Even the 3-month rate is $19.95 which is lower than most sites charge for one month.
The Bads:
- Avg Video Quality, Weak Options. The video formatting choices include streaming Real Player files which are very low quality or higher resolution DivX downloadable files. The DivX quality is better than the Real but not high quality. They are full-movie files with no clip choices or any other downloading options available.
- Inconsistent Updates, Basic Design. The individual movie pages are date-stamped with update info and there is a "New Arrivals" page. Based on that info they have an update gap of almost a year and the date added info repeats on movie after movie. Navigation is left to niche categories and a keyword search (which is only slightly helpful).
- No Vid Preview Pics or Scene Info. Considering these are full DVD movies it's not helpful that scene details/breakdown are nowhere to be found. The only preview is the box cover along with a synopsis and list of stars. The lack of any preview pics makes it tough to know what the action is like in the movie.
- Non-Exclusive DVDs, Standard Titles. In terms of the included movies Kiwi Puff isn't covering any new ground. The titles are from the 2000s and 1990s with recognizable movies for the most part. Some niches are bigger than others with a number of categories having only a handful of DVDs.
Conclusion:
Overall Kiwi Puff fits with the saying "you get what you pay for". The low membership price is nice indeed however that's balanced out by the shortcomings in areas like updates, video quality/formatting, and design issues. It's not the fanciest movie download site out there but it is inexpensive.
